One thing that has been established here a long time ago is the fact that I tend to harp on "Samantha's Protest". Once upon a time, I wrote about an episode of another show that reminded me of "Samantha's Protest" on three different levels. A female poster who I had corresponded with in the past responded with "A thumbtack could remind you of 'Samantha's Protest'"! I retaliated by starting another thread called "A Thumbtack and More". By this time, I had watched an episode of "Friends" that reminded me of "Gimme a Break!" on two different levels. In one way, it reminded me of "Samantha's Protest" and, in another way, it reminded me of the second season episode "Julie Smokes". The fact that I tend to harp on things like this is one part of my disability. This is one of the reasons why I am a client of an organization for adults with special needs. On top of all of this, I have made several posts about a local syndication network here in New Jersey. I have told you guys about the fact that they show such classics as "Mama's Family" and "Perry Mason". Well, weeknights at nine, they show syndicated episodes of "Happy Days". Next they show an episode of "Laverne and Shirley". Well, about two weeks ago, I checked the listing for that night's episode of "Laverne and Shirley" and saw that it was "Watch the Fur Fly". This is another episode that reminds me of "Samantha's Protest"! Earlier this week, I saw that that night's episode of "Happy Days" also reminds me of "Samantha's Protest"! Unfortunately, I did not get to watch either of these episodes. This is because of another part of my disability. This is another reason that I am a client of a special organization. The part of my disability that I am writing about now is a sleep disorder. I have had this condition since early childhood. Throughout my life, this is one of the things that has made it difficult bordering on impossible for me to get jobs, keep jobs and make it to appointments on time. To make a long story short, on both of these nights, I crashed before these respective episodes were on. However, during the past two nights, I have managed to stick to a schedule to the point to were I was able to watch both "Happy Days" and "Laverne and Shirley". This is something that I am very proud of! In closing, I would just like to say that, if anyone here is interested in how either of these episodes reminded me of "Samantha's Protest", I will be happy to elaborate on it later on.

In the first place, I really admire your sense of humor! You did a very good play on words. On top of this, both the "Happy Days" and the "Laverne and Shirley" episodes reminded me of "Samantha's Protest" because they all dealt with people standing up for what they believe in. On "Laverne and Shirley", Shirley is a very big animal right activist. She was very upset to see her neighbor Rhonda wearing a fur coat. On "Happy Days" there were plans to close Inspiration Point. This was for the sake of building an off-ramp to a major highway. Mr. Cunningham thought that this might increase his business at the hardware store. This debate was the same type of political issue that was presented in "Samantha's Protest". |

I do not know if anyone here has noticed, but it has been quite a while since any of my messages on this page or any other page on this thread have been posted at ridiculous hours of the night or morning. This is because of the degree to which my sleep disorder has been under control in the recent past. This is through a combination of medicine, counseling and self discipline. It has been quite a while since I have missed an appointment or a day of volunteering because of my sleep issue. Even though this reality does not directly relate to "Gimme a Break!", I am bringing this thread to the top of the page just in case anyone here would like to be happy for me for my success in this area. On top of that, I would be very interested in what anyone thinks of the things that I wrote earlier in this thread that do have to do with "Gimme a Break!". |

By using the term, "not that there's anything wrong with it", are you making reference to the classic "Seinfeld" episode that had the whole world quoting it for a while? |

I am bringing this thread to the top of this page mainly to vent my frustrations about the fact that my sleep disorder is not completely cured. You can tell by the time of night that I am posting this message that I still have some issues. I find it amazing that we have the technology to put a man on the moon, but we have not found a a solution to that or several of my other problems! Sorry to be bellyaching the way that I am! In any event you will see that, right below this thread is one started by me. At the time of my writing this reply, my thread has seventeen views and zero replies. In between the time that I started this thread and the present, I have posted messages on two other pages of this site. One was a reply to a message on the "Brady Bunch" page and it had to do with the same topic as my last post on this page. I then went over to the "Three's Company" page and responded to a rather popular thread there. The last I checked, my post was the most recent one on both of these pages. After submitting this fourth and last post in this sitting I am going to try my hardest to get some sleep so that I can get up at a somewhat sensible hour of the morning and salvage what I can of the day. After I get up, one of the first things that I plan on doing is coming back to this site and seeing if any of these messages have generated any replies. |

I would like to thank the last two posters for their words of support. It is always nice to know that I have friends! Bringing this thread to the top of the page was the last thing that I did before trying to get some sleep. I slept pretty well and then got up at eleven the next morning. I was able to accomplish a good amount yesterday before going back to bed. This morning I was up shortly after nine and had a very constructive day! Like I mentioned in my last post on this thread, it was the fourth post that I made that sitting. The first was the new thread right under this one. When I came here, I saw that it had twenty-five views and zero replies. That post was inspired by something that I had recently read on the "Brady Bunch" page. True to my word, I went back to that page and told my buddies there about my post here. Right before coming here, I checked that page and my post is still the most recent one. I then went over to the "Three's Company" page and responded to an existing thread there. Somebody posted after me on the same thread. I could tell you guys what that poster wrote, but it would be getting too far off of the topic of my situation not to mention "Gimme a Break!".

Once again, I am very thankful for your friendship and support! By the way, have you read my thread titled "Shirley Temple"? If you have, I would be very interested in what you think of it. |
