The highlight of "Growing Pains" to me is Alan Thicke! He did a great job with the role and is my vote for one of the best sitcom dads ever!
I used to love this show when it was new and in reruns on TBS but I haven't watched it in over a decade and so most of these episodes are fresh to me with the occasional "Oh, I remember this one!" I just finished the era where Mike was dating and almost married Julie. Those were some awkward episodes to watch now that it's infamous that Kirk Cameron had the actress fired for having posed in Playboy a few years earlier. It sucks that he had to be that way but to be honest, Mike and Julie didn't have much chemistry and she wasn't a very good actress (she may have improved over the years, I don't know). So to me it's no big loss just a dirty thing that had to happen behind the scenes. Also, watching the episode where Boner leaves to join the Marines is a bit sadder now that Andrew Koenig has died. I just wonder if he had quit the show or the producers decided for him that it was time to move on. |

Julie did improve, at least I think so, she's hilarious as Drew Carey's white trash neighbor Peaches on the first season of his show.

Growing Pain is a nice show...maybe I'll do a marathon on it if the library has it. But Right now I'm "WINGing" it - going through all of WINGS - am now up to the first ep of S4.

As for "Growing Pains", only seasons 1 and 2 are available in stores. Seasons 3 through 7 are made on demand only. So I don't know if the library would have those seasons or not. |

I just marathoned the whole series myself. I get what your saying about Alan Thick but my favorite part of the series is Jeremy Miller. I know I'm in the minority but seasons 5-6 were the worst for him. I really enjoyed all the Ben central episodes in season 7. Obviously young ben in seasons 1-4 were better then Chrissy in terms of a cute kid.
