Unproduced Script #7152: "Your Old Friend Phyllis" - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Stumbled upon this curio . . . an unproduced script with the production number 7152 (one of several that fell out during RHODA's fourth season) called "Your Old Friend Phyllis." It sold in November 2014. This obviously seems to have been written for Cloris Leachman's character. Does anyone know anything about this -- why it fell through, the history, etc. (or other scripts given production numbers that went unfilmed)?

Despite the ironic fact that, offstage Miss Harper and Miss Leachman were besties, it would have been a tough sell to have had either Rhoda or Phyllis journey across the country to interact with the someone each only had tolerated for their mutual pal Mary's sake. Remember Phyllis's stunt re forgetting to bring Rhoda to her OWN wedding even got Ida to finally dislike Phyllis so there was no real reason for Phyllis to venture back to NYC.

Yeah. It wasn't realistic to expect Rhoda and Phyllis to be together without Mary also being there.

I think it would have been funny if Valerie had guest starred on "Phyllis",a lift breaking down and Phyllis finds Rhoda(whose on a west coast holiday)her old Nemesis,I disagree that Phyllis wouldn't have ventured to NY,the whole thing about Phyllis was she went through life self absorbed and tended not to notice people's reactions to her.
