The unbundling of cable will result in the demise of many channels you’ve barely heard of, says Tim Goodman. "Oh, it’s coming undone,” he says. "It's not a matter of if, but of when. The question is how fast can we accurately track it unraveling right now." |

They can start by giving us the choice of opting out of the sports channels.

I was talking about the monopoly they have on cable because if you think about it over the past twenty years ever since cable was deregulated the big three have been taking over basic and premium cable and turning once great channels into wastelands of reruns of current TV shows and cheesy reality programs example USA.

That includes 350 brand-new shows premiering in 2015, according to a tally by National Geographic. The 750 unscripted cable shows is 83% higher than the 409 scripted shows on broadcast and cable that FX counted at the end of last year. |

I sooooo hope the cable stations go back to what they were in the 80's and 90's...I'm sure USA could be a variety station like it once was!

USA already has wrestling which was on in the 80s and the 90s. And yes, I wish USA would go back to the old days instead of all the CSI, NCIS crap.

TNT announced earlier this week they were cutting back the number of commercials they will air during a show to 10 minutes per hour.
It's too early to tell if other channels wil do the same, but I believe the entertainment industry knows they are in trouble, and one of the biggest reasons people are cutting the cord is the insane glut of commercials shown during a program. As for me I've become too attached to watching shows with ZERO minutes of commercials per hour!
