Visual Entertainment, Inc. (VEI) is well-known in North America for TV-DVD releases (in both the USA and Canada) of some highly acclaimed television shows, including The Sentinel, Barnaby Jones, Cannon, Grace Under Fire, Hotel, Cagney & Lacey, The Equalizer, Nash Bridges, Hell's Kitchen, Diagnosis Murder, McMillan and Wife, In Search Of..., The Mod Squad, John Byner's Bizarre, (Chef Gordon) Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, and many more. Now the Toronto-based studio is announcing that they are releasing a new slate of "complete TV collections," and one of the classic television programs to "watch for" will be Evening Shade.

This is the 1990 series which ran on CBS for 4 seasons and 98 episodes. It had a superstar cast including Burt Reynolds (Smokey and the Bandit, Deliverance, Gunsmoke, Dan August), Marilu Henner (Taxi, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Charles Durning (Dog Day Afternoon, Tootsie, North Dallas Forty, Rescue Me), Michael Jeter (Jurassic Park III, Sesame Street/Elmo's World), Ossie Davis (The Stand, B.L. Stryker, The Client, Promised Land, Touched by an Angel, Grumpy Old Men), and Hal Holbrook (Sons of Anarchy, The Event, Designing Women, North and South, Lincoln, The Bold Ones: The Senator).

This actually won't be the first DVD release for Evening Shade; Paramount Home Video put out a 5-disc set of Season 1 back in 2008. It's too early have any word yet whether VEI will make individual season sets of the remaining three seasons available to buy, for those who bought the previous item. Stay tuned, and if we eventually find out something along those lines, we'll certainly let you know!

This show is just ONE item taken from a very impressive list of 11 newly-named shows (see our ten other news posts today for those items). NOTE that specific release dates have NOT BEEN SET so far...nor do we have details or package art at this time, either; just the heads-up to expect this release in the future.
