The Green Hornet started out as a radio show in the 30s, the comics didn't come until the 40s.

There was also "Sheena, the Jungle Girl" with Irish McCalla.

A lot of early examples of shows based on comic "strips" (as opposed to comic books), like "Terry and the Pirates," "Dick Tracy," "Flash Gordon," "Jungle Jim," "Joe Palooka," and such. There was also the two "Blondie" series, the first with Pamela Britton, and the second with Patricia Harty.

Sable, from 1987, I believe, was based on a comic. And I know there was at least one series featuring the Crow character, who originated in a comic book.

We can add PREACHER now.

RIVERDALE, based on Archie comics, is coming to the CW.
