what would it be? I'm reffering to any case featured on Unsolved Mysteries. Has there ever been a story they showed that really got to you? One that you just wish you could solve?
Well, let's say you have been given the magic power to solve ONE mystery. What would it be? For me, there are 100's, but there is one that gets me every time. And every time I see it rebroadcast on Lifetime, I hope pray that it has been solved, and then, I am dissapointed to see that it still hasn't. It was a "Missing Persons" case that was shown, I think the 3rd season of UM. (Remember how a couple posters stated how scary the update music on UM is (The one that starts by ZOOM... Da da!!!) The poster said, this was the background music for the kidnapped grand children case... this is EXACTLY tha case I want solved) The case I am referring to is the one about the grandparents (Sandra and Marvin Maple) that lied and told a judge that two of their grandchildren, Kristi and Bobby had been sexually abused by their parents (the Maple's daughter and her husband, I forgot their names). The court awarded the Maples temporary custody of the kids while an investigation started, and during that time, the Maples ran off with Kristi and Bobby and have not been seen since. They have all been missing since March of 1989. Within minutes of the first UM broadcast, some information was given on their where abouts with 2 pictures of Kristi and Bobby swimming (you know, the update with the scary background music) but nothing else has developed since. I don't understand how the Maples could get away all this time and STILL not be found. I want them locked up so bad, I can't stand it. And at the same time, I feel so badly for the parents. Well, anyone who has seen this case can tell how upset they were. I found this link on a missing person's web-site, it has all their pictures, and what Kristi and Bobby would look like today.... http://www.missingkids.com/cgi-bin/d...ge=1&orgcode=1 |

I've got a lot of contenders too: Lisa Ziegert (kidnapped/murdered from women's clothing store); the girl thrown off the bridge who drove the black Honda CRX with "Lil Miss" license plates; the son of two Canadian doctors who was killed while driving to the U.S. to start medical school; the young Canadian couple who met their killer on the ferry ride into Washington, but the one I would like to see solved the most is the one of the elderly woman who was shot to death inside her RV while pulled over at a rest area for the night.

There are two cases which I would like to see solved more than any of them. The 1st is the case about the young man who was addicted to drugs and kicked out by his parents in an attempt of tough love. His car was found abandoned a few hours later and he was never ever seen alive again. There seemed to be an elaborate police coverup. A couple of years later his bone fragments were found in a revine but they couldn't determine the cause of death. That one has always haunted me. There were obviously something sinster people about his death. I believe the most likely scenario was that he was pulled over by a cop for reckless driving and he probably wouldn't cooperate and the police killed him- perhaps accidentally- and they felt they had to cover it up.
The other case is about the horse owner/oil businessman whose skeleton was found in the cave by a bus driver who always got a creepy feeling when around it. The man had been shot in the head almost twenty years before by a guy he had given thousands of dollars to for an alleged horse. That guy drove the oil man's car in the river and was never seen again. He is wanted for questioning and car theft, I think. It's no telling if this one will ever be solved, because the crime happened in like '75. I want these crimes to be solved more for the victims and their families than for my entertainment, because they were both very sad and devious. |

Here are a few on the top of my list:
#1 Angela Hammond info: She was abducted in 1991 in Mississippi. Her boyfriend actually chased the car until his transmission failed. She has not been seen since. #2: Dale Kerstedder (sp?) Disappeared along with some platinum from a Pennsylvania plant #3: Pattie (can't remember last name). Murdered in 1987. Consumed cold medicine laced with strychnine. #4: Tiffany Leipert (or Leepert): Beauty Queen/Movie Starlet who disappeared in 1982. and finally (#5 will never be solved for sure )#5 What ever happened to Amelia Earhart? |

1# Rhonda Hinson, who was murdered while driving home from a Christmas party in Dec. of 1981, she was only 18.
2# Dana Satterfield, was murdered while closing up her hair salon. A door-to-door saleslady was face to face with the killer after hearing loud noises coming from the salon. 3# Jeremy Bright, 14 year old who disappeared after attending the Coos County Fair in 1986. There are several scenarios as to what happened. 4# Kurt Sova, disappeared after attending a halloween party. Was later found dead at a vacant lot, cause of death unknown. 5# Chad Mauer, found dead in chicago in his car. Worked in a bike shop. |

The ones I want solved primarily involve wanted/missing persons, etc. Not counting the ones mentioned above:
-The capture of the murderer of Tina Jefferson, Warren Fulton and Rachael Raver. I watched the '89 Jefferson segment in 1999 and remembered it ever since, and this summer saw the '01 Fulton/Raver continuation. The image of the murderer running from the crime scene in the Jefferson segment will be with me forever. -The capture of the New York serial rapist that murdered one and raped seven others. -The capture of the I-70 killer. -To find out what really happened to Tara Leigh Calico. -Solve once and for all the D.B. Cooper case. I'll limit myself to five. |

So many interesting cases have already been mentioned, but I'd like to add a few more to the list.
A.J. Breaux...the smalltown businessman from Louisiana who was spotted several times after he went missing. A recovering alcoholic, Breaux was actively involved in A.A. and was well respected in his community. The sightings after his disappearance (in a car full of strangers, trying to sell frozen fish out of a van) were very disturbing to me and I have always hoped there would be a resolution to this case. Also, two cases that were featured on an "Investigators" segment have always fascinated me: The young woman in California who didn't have enough money to pay full cab fare while taking a late night cab ride. The heartless cab driver dropped her off in an isolated area and the next morning her body was found at the bottom of a cliff. Police were never able to determine who she was or if her death was an accident, a suicide or a homicide. In South Carolina, a young man and woman were found shot to death in a car along an isolated country road. Authorities believe the victims may have been brother and sister but no one ever came forward to claim the bodies or provide any information. |

1. Adam Hecht-the one about son of movie producer Harold Hecht and his friendship with homeless people, particularly a man named Tony. I would really like to know what happened to him
2. Tammy Leppert-did Chris Wilder kill her? 3. The one about the college student who was murdered at his home while his parents were away at the theatre and the cops said it was suicide, when it clearly wasn't. There was speculation that he was working for the DEA. There also was ATM video footage of him taking cash out of the ATM and two men behind him. |

Some of the ones mentioned on here have already been solved...
Someone typed of a girl driving in a car with LILMISS plates, that was Lisa Marie Kimmel and her killer has been arrested. There is a thread on that. Segments that stick out in my mind are... This girl who was taken/ran away from her home. I can't remember which one it was but she was later seen being escorted around by an older Asian man in a suit. Witnesses gave a composite sketch and it looked pretty darn scary. After some brief sightings she was never seen again. A man from Bangledesh named Maffus Huck(sp) disappeared after murdering the boyfriend of some girl named Christy. Wonder if he was ever caught. Who murdered Tracy Kirkpatrick? Anyone remember that one? Who was the mysterious person behind the murder confession over the phone to a morning radio show hosted by Kevin & Bean in Los Angeles. Or was it Mark and Brian? An elderly black man was drifting in and out of stores in a small town in Tennessee. He was clearly lost. Had no idea where he was going. He went into a store and bought some things and told the clerk that he was looking for his wife. She said he looked confused and ill. Something like that. She called the hospital to see if his wife was there and when she told him she wasn't he got in his car and left. His car was later found somewhere abandond but he vanished. People close to him said he would have never left his car like that as it was one of his most prised possesions. A man who wanted to buy a Dautson Z finally took possesion of one. The car was found out to be stolen or used for drugs. Something like that. He reported it to the police and the car was taken away. A few days later he disappeared. His lunch and school belongings were found in his other car but he was never found. At some point his brother found out the man who sold him the car, had some connection with another man who had been murdered. A girl who worked delivering pizzas. She was stopped in a road and told by her killer that he had given her the wrong address. When she went to get the pizzas he kidnapped her, leaving pizzas scattered in the road. They caught her killer but he would never tell anyone where he put her body. A young man who loved to fix motorcycles. He fixed up a harley which his parents didn't like so he said he would sell it. After he fixed it he took it out for a ride where witnesses say he was being bullied by 2 other motorcycle riders. He made a turn and disappeared. The mother talked to people who told her her son was dead. Other people came out and said the same thing, but she wanted to find where her son was. The story of a woman who began to suffer from some mental illness. I believe it was depression or schizophrenia. Her husband whom I believe his name is Jules, said she was going on a trip to by train but she never returned. I don't believe she was going to visit anyone. He went back and left a note on her car but she never returend. No one knows what happened to her. After some time he took a job in Utah I believe and that was that. To me he didn't look too worried. Old case. Wow that was a lot. Sorry about all this. If anyone can help me with better descriptions, or if anyone has updates to some of these cases please let me know. Thanks! |

Roswell, Kecksburg, Belgium, Falcon Lake and a couple of others that UM featured. If there were any other-worldly truth to those incidents it would easily surpass solving an Earthly crime, no matter how aged or heinous.
Otherwise, most of my nominees have been mentioned. I would add Dr. Jeffrey McDonald, who I will always believe was wrongly convicted. And it would be interesting to know the exact fate of the Alcatraz escapees. I'm sure they indeed became fish food, but to learn how far they got before the raft gave way and whether any came close to swimming to survival would be intriguing. Also, regarding an earlier post in this thread, Richard McCoy was D.B. Cooper. Case closed. |

--- Im not sure but i think some of the cases mentioned above are already solved:
1)LILMISS. Her killer is waiting sentence 2)the Rest Stop killer in Blind River, Ontario Canada. The killer was captured and he was accused of some other crimes too. 3)the murder confession over the phone to a morning radio show. the call was a hoax. My 5 cases: 1) Tara Calico case 2) That girl (dont remember her name) who dissapeared in late 70s and is believed to be kidnapped and killed by a biker gang. 3) that boy who went missing in 50s with his father. Now his father is dead so no one knows his whereabouts. 4) Amy Bradley case. The girl who dissapeared from a cruiser boat in Curacao. 5) That woman who got beated and threated all her life, but no one could find her aggresor so the cops thought her wounds were self-inflicted. Finally she was found dead and it seemed she was brutally murdered. Theres a book about her case but i cant remember her name arghhh!!!
