Default Yes I know it's the thought that counts but what can I get with $5 Walmart gift card?

Some Candy? LOL

Coworker gave me that as a gift today and I was like what the hell is this? She would have done better giving me a Dunkin Donuts Card. When people go to walmart they are not going there to spend no $5.00 lol

So I guess the card will just sit in my wallet until I go out with my family to eat lol

You could always use it as a credit towards something greater than $5. So if your total is $7.89, then you just have to pay $2.89.

Me personally, I'd never give someone a gift card unless it was at least $15 or was a card to a coffee place like Dunkin Doughnuts-like you suggested.

$5 at Dunkin Donuts will get you...reaching in your pocket for more cash. But if someone gives you a 5 buck gift card, at least you know what they think of you.

When people tell me "It's the thought that counts..." I always say to that "Then 'think' about getting me a better gift."

LOL

Apply to something you want. No big deal. I would be happy getting it.

Not quite sure how you mean this. If you mean that the co-worker thinks little of the recipient, not sure that's always true; it depends.

* If the co-worker just can't afford to give more, then a nice gift bought at a great sale, or a really good find (NOT garish or tacky) at an Odd Lot or dollar store could work better. Me personally, when $ s tight, I scope out stores right after Xmas til like Jan 5, and sometimes you find something really nice sharply reduced 75-90%. I keep a special storage box and save the item for a future gift. The other way is to just write the person a heartfelt note on a very pretty card.

*Some places (like mine) have very strict gift giving policies. Bosses can only give underlings de minimus gifts (under $10) and employees can't give bosses anything at all- outside of maybe a holiday card. Colleagues can give each other gifts up to $20.

*If neither of the above THEN the person may just be plain cheap.

There could be other possibilities but these, I think, cover the major ones.

I can't apply it to anything right now because I live nowhere near a Walmart

But of course the person who gave me the gift card does. Lol

The thing that made it seem so strange (and cheap) was the gift card was for a department store! There isn't much you can get for5$ and under! If the coworker was really tight on cash, a gift card for Starbucks or Dollar tree for 5$ would make more sense!

If I didn't have much money and I wanted to give a coworker a gift ,I'd just buy a box of inexpensive chocolates or a tin of cookies, that would be 5$ (or under) !

I like your approach better. Much better to give a simple but nice food gift OR $5 at the Dollar Store could get someone a few useful things. Or a REALLY NICE note if you're someone who writes well.

Yeah at Dollar tree you could get 5 items or 4 depending if they were taxed items! Starbucks, 2 cups of coffee ,right?
