Default Anybody else use LITB to chill out in a crazy world

With all the violence going on in the world (I call ISIS zombies) I find myself watch LITB as an antidote to what I see on tv.

What about you? Does watching wally and the beav make you happy or sad and make you wish you still lived in a world where kids could play outside all day.

I agree about the Best. I like to watch that and Seinfeld and other shows. Depends on the mood I am in.

To the OP a big YES. LTB and other shows like it bring me back to my little suburban home town in NJ in the late 50's and early 60's.I watch these shows not because of violence or ISIS, but because of the fast pace and uncaring way our society has become. Kids locked in their rooms with violent video games, everyone glued to smart phones, annoying soccer moms in $70,000 SUV's running you off the road to take their spoiled brats 2 blocks to school! Yes I miss those days...at least LTB brings me back if just for 30 mins

Leave It To Beaver is the TV equivalent of comfort food.

I certainly do. In fact it's interesting how much I can relate to the lessons Ward and June teach them throughout the show. Kind of like the time they take them out in the mountains and Ward says there all all kinds of things to do in the woods for hours and hours. Reminds me of a camping trip I went on as a kid.
With all the cell phones, tablets, etc today and few people communicating with each other outside of texting or facebook, I long for a simpler lifestyle.

Default LITB is MY Escape

LITB is my escape. The place I go to when I need to get away from all the madness in this selfish, self-serving world and try to remember what it was like when I was a little girl. No, the world wasn't perfect then, but evil wasn't as pervasive as it is now. I believe that technology is the cause of a lot of the things that are happening and on the scale that they are happening nowadays. I'd give up my cell phone and computer, in a heartbeat, if I could go back and live in the early '60s.

LITB is a great show to "chill out to". I also use "Mama's Family", "Petticoat Junction", "Green Acres", "The Beverly Hillbillies", and many more classics to forget things in this crazy world.

I think "LITB" is a great show to chill out too, too. I also like using "The Dick Van Dyke Show", "Cheers", "Mama's Family", "Happy Days", "Laverne & Shirley", "Three's Company", "Doogie Howser" and "Family Ties" to "chill out to."

Well said, I agree. Modern technology is causing a lot of problems. I don't have a cell phone, land line phone is good enough for me. But I think it would be hard to live nowadays without a computer and internet. It's great for on line shopping. Amazon, ebay, etc.

And yes, Leave It To Beaver is a great show to watch as a temporary escape from the madness of modern life.
