allright folks i know that this is going to sound strange to some of you,but i find it hard to belive myself still as strange as it is.does anyone here notice that kelsey grammer/frasier sometimes seems to have a british accent,I remember sometimes noticing it sometime around when he started becoming an patron or a regular member of the cheers stars and cast.He seems to have an on and sometimes off,Sometimes i notice it and other times i don,t seem to see it around as much.I noticed that he even seems to have it somewhat in real life so i am confused is the character frasier supposed to be of british background or have lived in britan maybe sometime or maybe it is from hanging around niles to long HAHAHA LOL.Although strangley like i said he seemed to have it long before frasier started and since i have only been watching frasier for afew years it is strange to notice it,Did they decide somewhere to change the characters background for the show after cheers ended even though they decided to add him a brother and make his father who was presumilly deceased in the begining alive and visaversa with his mother.Allthough i find it hard to accept,I find the whole situation and thought of Kelsey Grammer/Frasier Crane with an british accent very very very somehow.Has anyone else here noticed he seems to be getting more of an stronger british accent latelly way way way more often LOL,but i don,t really think it is Kelsey Grammer himself with the accent because i belive Kelsey Grammer was born in Long Island and grow up there for a large portion of his life unless he had british relitives and funny i belive the character frasier was origanlly from Seatle,Why does Niles have an accent? Does the actor who plays him have an accent and they decided to stick with it or is his character supposed to be british, questions and mysterys so strange unsolved mysterises hahahaha,I realize it is a tv show still i do find it funny however it is still the best show around i belive,I LOVE CHEERS AND and to us CHEERS FANS IT,S THE NUMBER ONE SHOW,I just find strange that frasier or kelsey grammer has a british accent LOL,does anyone know why this is,Why does frasier have an aceent and niles to and how did he get it LOL ,thanks CHEERS!

I never thought of Frasier's accent as "british." I think of it as more of a cultured, high brow accent.
Another word would be pompous. Since Frasier often has a flair for the dramatic, I like to think he's channeling the Shakesperean actor within himself when he rages at the troubles in his life. |

I think that's just the way his voice sounds. I've seen him in a couple of non-Frasierlike roles and he sounded just the same.
Speaking of one of his non-Frasier roles, I have to rent Down Periscope again sometime. I love that movie! I haven't seen it for a few years though. |

From what I've read, Kelsey Grammer was born on St. Thomas and grew up in New Jersey and Florida. Frasier Crane spent two years in Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, which might account for his sounding British. As for Kelsey, he's done a lot of Shakespeare before he started playing Frasier, which is where I imagine it would come from.
