I recently watched an episode of 20/20 called "Mystery Down Under" concerning Gabe & Tina Watson. This case has also been the subject of a book, a Lifetime movie, as well as featured on Dateline and the Australian version of 60 Minutes.
It concerns the couple, who were young and newlyweds from Alabama in 2003. On their honeymoon, they visited the Great Barrier Reef just off of Australia. The couple had planned to dive, although Tina had little diving experience and had never participated in an ocean dive. She would drown just 2 minutes into their dive, and many of Gabe's actions are suspicious: A summary of the case is available here on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Tina_Watson I believe Gabe is absolutely guilty. That authorities on 2 continents (North American and Australia) believe he is guilty speaks volumes in my opinion. He tried to appear choked up throughout his interview, but never produced any actual tears. His responses to everything were lame and he just kept spewing out the same, manufactured lines such as "I was still in the grieving process." He had no explanation as to why he left Tina in the water, other than that he claimed he couldn't carry her. She was not a big woman by anyone's definition, and when a rescuer got in the water, he was immediately able to get her out. He also took back her wedding ring instead of burying her with it, and then afterwards, repeatedly stole the flowers her family left for her on her grave. I feel he is a disgusting individual and that he has got away with this crime after serving very minimal time is a joke. Oh and that corrupt, angry Alabama judge can go to Hell. |
