Smile best series finale

My favorite sitcom series finale would have to be The Mary Tyler Moore Show. The entire run of the show was excellent - and the finale was both touching and funny. But a close second (only because I never watched the show, but know how it ended) would be Newhart - brilliant! I thought that Roseanne tried to pull a Newhart by saying everything was a figment of her imagination. I wasn't that impressed, but I will say kudos for the effort. Third would be The Wonder Years and fourth is Cheers. I never watched an episode of MASH, but I've heard all the buzz about that finale - I'm sure it's good. Some of these other final shows people have posted here (Family Matters, Fresh Prince) are all tearjerkers, but nothing special compared to the great ones. By the way, I am definitely NOT a Facts of Life fan. That would be sad.

I don't want to seem like a "wagon jumper", but the last episode of Newhart was priceless. The last episode of Roseanne was good, but very, very confusing.

Cool

Cheers had a great series finale, as did NewsRadio. I was a little disappointed in the Wings series finale.

Newhart had the best series finale that I have ever seen.

I liked the "Newhart" finale the best, but "Roseanne" was a close second. Both were very creative.

My favorite is BARNEY MILLER. The best part was Inspecter Luger called Leavitt by his real name and told him he finally became a real detective.

Leave it to Beaver. They showed it today, and since I'm such a total ditz I almost got teary eyed.

If cartoons count I would have to say Pepper Ann, it was called "The Finale" and it showed them 15 years in the future. Pepper Ann had lost contact with Milo and Nicky, so when they go to their middle school reunion they meet up again and get into another adventure. The end of that episode had me crying so hard. Pepper Ann goes to the Greasy & Cheesy and sees these kids about to sit in the old booth Pepper Ann, Milo, and Nicky used to sit at when they were in 7th grade. Pepper Ann goes up to the kids and asks them if they mind if she sits in this booth for a minute. She sits down and you hear the voices of when they were 7th graders. That was such a great episode.

I realize that I'm a total ditz lol

Talking

Definately -- The Mary Tyler Moore Show -- doesnt matter how many times I see that episode, I never get tired of it. And bringing Rhoda (Valerie Harper) and Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) back for the last show was a great tribute to them .. for all the work they did on the earlier seasons.

And I agree.. Newhart is a close second.

nothing bothers me more than a show that just ends without a finale.. especially shows that were on for years .. like Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie.. and Hogan's Heroes.. couldn't they have had a "the war is over" episode or something?
