Normally the show's current season would be out on DVD, and considering the finale aired a while back, where is the DVD for Season 6? I hope they are not discontinuing the releases with only one left to go.

I was thinking the same thing.
TVLand gave it crappy treatment the final season as well. Normally, they would air a new episode at 10 p.m. on Wendesday, rerun it 3 hours later, and at least a couple times later in the week including Sunday. This was great for people who missed it. Sometimes, I would be recording other things and would record the reruns. For season 6 however, the reruns are scarce. In fact, after the finale, the show was removed from the schedule altogether for quite a while. I noticed reruns have popped back up lately, but they're at some ungodly hour (like 4:35 a.m.) and are ones from the first 5 seasons, which were not only aired a lot more, but are also available on dvd. Season 6 has been treated crappily all around. Come to think of it, I don't know why it was cancelled in the first place. TVLand's foray into new sitcoms wouldn't even exist today had it not been for this show. |

TV Land dumped all there original multi camera comedies in place for single camera shows. I've seen one episode of Younger and disliked it and watched the full first season of Impastor. While I liked Impastor, it didn't feel like a sitcom - it felt more like a dark comedy that would fit in more on Showtime or HBO. It feels completely misplaced on a network like TV Land that is known for showing classic sitcoms or new sitcoms with the old style feel. Perhaps these single camera comedies are cheaper to produce. Who knows the reason why. However, the shift to single camera comedies is the reason why Hot In Cleveland, The Exes and The Soul Man (which is in it's final season) have ended. Rumors were flying around that it had to do with declining ratings, but even though they were continuously declining - it can't be the case since it was still there #1 show when it ended. Rumors also flew around that it was due to Betty White's health. This also is not true as it was revealed Betty wanted a 7th season and she has since continued working making a guest appearance on "Bones" and just recently appeared on The Late Show with James Corden the other night.
Hot In Cleveland had a really great run though with 128 episodes - making it great to air continuously in rerun land. It will probably go down as TV Land's most successful original show or at the very least, one of there most successful (time will tell with how well there single camera shows do). I also just recently discovered that on top of the show currently airing in syndication and with the occasional reruns that TV Land does, LOGO (a very popular cable network aimed towards the LGBT community) has begun airing reruns as well. I'm glad to see the show doing decently in rerun land close to a year after it has ended. |
