Default Is “double dipping” chips really as bad as Seinfeld makes it out to be?

http://www.avclub.com/article/double...kes-it--228965

Quote:
It is one of the most famous and most damning accusations in all of popular culture: “You double dipped the chip! You dipped the chip, you took a bite, and you dipped again!” Actor Kieran Mulroney as “Timmy” levied those harsh words at Jason Alexander’s George Costanza in “The Implant,” a classic episode of Seinfeld that originally aired on February 25, 1993. At the time, Mulroney claimed, “That’s like putting your whole mouth right in the dip!” But is it really? An undergraduate research team at Clemson decided to investigate. Their findings were both multi-faceted and grim.

I don't care how many times someone tries to analyze this the results for me will always be the same. If you bite off the chip and dip it again it's the same as sticking your germ-filled mouth into the dip. If you're a habitual double-dipper then get a separate bowl for yourself and don't subject the other party guests to your disgusting ways.

To me its almost the same as swimming in a public pool, how does one know if the dozens of people who were in before hadn't urinated in it?

I never really thought about it until I saw that episode and when you think about it it's really kind of gross.

Yes it is. And so is eating a bday cake after blowing out the candles, c'mon, you know spittle and germs are getting on it.

You are so right. I always try to get a piece of cake that is as far away from the candles as I can, and that is at the bottom side of the cake. If it is intimidate family party I don't mind people that double dip, although I never do dip twice. If it is a big party with lots of people I don't know, then no dip for me

If you break the chip in two before you dip the first piece, it's not double dipping.

My girlfriend (who gave me a ration about double dipping a while back) pointed out this loophole to me.
