my favorite parts of opening titles were the sunset on China Beach, the Twin Peaks sign and the hourglass on Days Of Our Lives

One of mine is the flyover of Texas Stadium in the Dallas opening. Another is the color-changing hospital in the opening of Trapper John, M.D.

Rob Petrie sometimes tripping over the ottoman and sometimes scooting around it on "The Dick Van Dyke Show"! And Mary Richards throwing her hat in the air on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"!

While like the AW logo, it's pales in comparison to this one...

Mama dusting her newspaper on “Mama’s Family”.
Hourglass on “Days of our Lives”. Vera spilling all the straws on “Alice”. George dancing on “The Jeffersons”. The entire opening sequence of “Boy Meets World”’s second season. Ray Charles singing on “Designing Women”. Blanche sashaying down the hall on “The Golden Girls”. Urkel playing the accordion on “Family Matters”. The entire “Step by Step” opening used for seasons 1-5. The slide whistle on “Matlock”. |

I enjoyed the slideshow of landmarks on the original Dallas intro, and loved how the slideshow would end perfectly in sync with the end of the first verse (with a shot of the courthouse).
For the first two seasons of T.J. Hooker, the outline of the actors' names would slide in from either side of the screen, then fill in in yellow. I always thought that was a cool effect. Quite a few primetime soaps of the 80s had their own stylish credits: the slanted three-window setup on Dallas, the aerial of the cul-de-sac/sliding boxes on Knots Landing, the vertical lines shooting up on Dynasty, etc. The silhouetted boxes on Charlie's Angels were also pretty cool. |

I like all the scenes on the Newhart open, and the Henry Mancini theme.
