Angry Cut Out Scene In "bus Station" Episode

I was watching "AITF" last night on Nick-At-Nite and I noticed they cut out a great scene from the "Bus Station" episode. While Archie and Edith are waiting in the bus station (to go to Woodbine, NJ), there were 2 hippies making out in the row behind them. You don't see their faces, so it's hard to tell what they are. Then Archie complains to Edith about their "making out". Edith replies that "they're just in love...isn't that sweet." Then they turn around to look at Archie & Edith. They turn out to be two hippy MEN! You can just imagine Archie's reaction. The two men get up and leave.

I can't believe Nick-At-Nite cut that whole scene out! What's the point of having "All in the Family" aired if you're going to edit and butcher the episodes until they're as sweet as "The Cosby Show" or those other '80s shows that have now consumed Nick-At-Nite"?

Wow. That's pretty shocking matter considering when this show was made. I remember the big fuss back in the '90s when Roseanne kissed a woman on her show. This must have been a big deal back in the '70s.
I know that Nick at Nite edits their shows for time space (so they can fit in more self-proclaiming commercials ) but I wouldn't put it past them to cut out this paticular scene for it's subject matter. I agree though..it is lame of them to edit the hell out of their shows.
At least we can rest easy in the fact that all the episodes will eventually be released on DVD in all their unedited glory.

I wouldn't be surprised if they edited it out. I mean N@N and TV Land cut out a lot of funny scenes and leave us with the rotten ones.

They don't cut that scene out in Canada, it was on just a few weeks ago....I don't think that that scene would have been tooooooo controversial to air back then, because in comparison with the Roseanne episode that was showing a REAL, FULL on the LIPS kiss on screen. With the two guys they weren't really kissing...you never seen their lips touch. Plus, Roseanne aired on ABC which is owned by Disney and very Family Oriented. AITF was a CBS show and probably had looser content restrictions. Just my thoughts anyways.

From what I understand, N@N edits AITF more for time constraints than content. "The Brady Bunch" iand "Cheers" are also heavily edited. It's considered acceptable to edit shows for cable in the US, but in Canada, there's the (correct) perception that since viewers are paying for cable, they should get unedited shows.

Most shows in cable syndication are butchered heavily. Mostly for time constraint, but on occasion, for content. That's why it puzzles me that N@N would even CONSIDER airing Roseanne next year, they will need to edit that show to death.

Sorry, got a BIT off-topic.
