Well it looks like late 2015 has arrived and Back to the Future's Doc Emmet Brown wasn't far off. The Flying car or as some might wanna call it....the Hover....Vehicle is here. The Terrafugia TF-X Flying car designed and built at MIT in Massachusetts.
There are other flying cars that have been built, but this one is getting most of the attention. Including that of the FAA which is blocking MIT from attempting normal testing on US soil. Because of this MIT might have to move the testing to another country. The first delivery of the TF-X was scheduled for late 2015 and then delayed till 2016. Now it's been delayed for a couple more years. MIT is not saying why, but it's probably due to the FAA problem. Of course it may not even be the FAA that is making this decision to delay testing, it may be the Airline companies. They know what it means if this vehicle becomes a regular part of american travel. Models were supposed to start at $279.000. But with the delayes, it may now be $400.000. Production of this vehicle is costly now and not many people will be able to afford the high price tag. But if this thing, excuse the punn, takes off, the prices will go down and become affordable to the common american worker. So with big city travel causing more traffic jams and overcrowding in some countries, this vehicle makes alot of sense. You can read more about this below. http://www.cnet.com/news/terrafugia-...ng-car-design/ |
