Default 100 TV Shows Scenario...

In this scenario, I am being forced to spend the rest of my life inside a house. I can go outside and I can have visitors (so that way this scenario doesn’t seem *as* depressing, lol). I can only have simple internet (meaning I can’t watch videos, but I can Facebook and visit Sitcoms Online and get the news from the outside world).

Anyways, the purpose of this thread is that as far as television is concerned, I get 100 TV shows to watch. I get every episode of each show and I can watch which ones I want when I want and I get to pick the shows. So here now is a list of all 100 shows I would get to spend the rest of my life with…

If I pick a current show, I get all the new episodes as they air, added to the episode package.

(In Alphabetical Order, Except for Continuation Series)

1. ALF
2. The Andy Griffith Show
3. Mayberry R.F.D.
4. Andy Richter Controls the Universe
5. Angel
6. Are You Being Served?
7. Batman ‘66
8. Bewitched
9. Boy Meets World
10. Girl Meets World
11. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
12. California Dreams
13. Charles in Charge
14. Cheers
15. Chico and the Man
16. Community
17. Curb Your Enthusiasm
18. The Donna Reed Show
19. Ellen
20. Empty Nest
21. Everybody Loves Raymond
22. F Troop
23. The Facts of Life
24. Family Affair
25. Family Matters
26. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
27. Friends
28. Full House
29. Fuller House
30. Futurama
31. The Golden Girls
32. The Golden Palace
33. Grounded for Life
34. Growing Pains
35. Gunsmoke
36. Happy Days
37. Head of the Class
38. Hey Dude
39. The Hogan Family
40. The Honeymooners
41. How I Met Your Mother
42. I Love Lucy
43. It’s Garry Shandling’s Show
44. Joey
45. Just the Ten of Us
46. The King of Queens
47. The Larry Sanders Show
48. Late Night with Conan O’Brien
49. The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien
50. Conan
51. Laverne & Shirley

55. The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
56. Married … with Children
57. Martin
58. The Mary Tyler Moore Show

61. Monk
62. The Monkees

68. My Three Sons
69. Newhart
70. NewsRadio
71. Night Court
72. The Odd Couple (‘70s)
73. The Office (US)
74. One Day at a Time
75. Parks & Recreation
76. Perfect Strangers
77. Quantum Leap
78. The Real Ghostbusters
79. Reno 911!
80. Rhoda
81. Saturday Night Live
82. Saved by the Bell: Good Morning Miss Bliss
83. Saved by the Bell: The Original Series
84. Saved by the Bell: The College Years
85. Saved by the Bell: The New Class
86. Scrubs
87. Seinfeld
88. Sliders
89. Spin City
90. Step by Step
91. Talk Soup
92. Taxi
93. That ‘70s Show
94. Three’s Company
95. Three’s a Crowd
96. ‘til Death
97. Too Close for Comfort
98. Welcome Back, Kotter
99. Wings
100. The Wonder Years

Some shows may seem like a waste (specifically 'Joey' and 'Three's a Crowd') but I want to have the full story for these characters and that includes their crappy follow-up spin-offs.

You may be right but you've gotta let me live my own fictional life.

Regarding "Joey", I'm one of the five people who enjoyed that show. However, the only reason I've decided to include it here is because I've also included "Friends."

I am kind of reconsidering "Three's a Crowd" though but I already typed it and in this scenario, I can't take it back. What's done is done.

I had a feeling this question would be asked, lol.

First up, I'm weird. I get that. The way I think is not necessarily how anyone else thinks, regarding television. Secondly, I only have so many slots to fill and I feel "Three's a Crowd" is just season nine to "Three's Company" but with some cast changes. Which is why I wanted to include that particular series. It's as if "Three's Company" takes up two slots instead of one.

"Frasier" seems to be very much its own show. Its own long running show that I never really got into. As for "Joey", I liked that show and since I had "Friends" on the list, I knew that would make me want to see "Joey" as well. I don't get that feeling for "Frasier" when I watch "Cheers."

Also I'm not doing all spin-offs. For example, I also don't have "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C."

All the main Cheers characters appeared on Frasier, plus offshoots like Nanny G, so I don't agree, but its your house arrest, so you're in charge

If I had to choose 100 shows for this type of scenario it would be among my top 10. My problem though would be finding 100, I'd be lucky to come-up with half that.

I actually like "Gomer Pyle", it just didn't make the cut. But I own it on DVD and enjoy it when I watch it. In this scenario, I chose "Mayberry R.F.D." over "Gomer Pyle" because to me "Mayberry R.F.D." is like seasons 9, 10 and 11 to "The Andy Griffith Show." Much like how "The Golden Palace" is like season 8 to "The Golden Girls." "Archie Bunker's Place" is seasons 10, 11, 12 and 13 to "All in the Family". "Three's a Crowd" is like season 9 to "Three's Company". They're more like a continuation of the story but with some cast changes, than a straight up spin-off. I wouldn't feel like I had the complete "Andy Griffith" if I didn't also have "Mayberry".

I originally almost made this a 20 shows or 50 shows thread so that more people could join in and say what their shows would be. But I just couldn't trim it down. I love too many shows. And at the end of the day, I figured this was my thread and I like the idea of 100 shows, so I went with that.

Of course even with a hundred shows, there are still some that I miss out on, which I'd like to have. Those include...

All in the Family / Archie Bunker's Place
The Brady Bunch
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.
M*A*S*H / AfterMASH
Petticoat Junction
Soap

I'm working on my list and will post it on Sunday.

I already have a favorite 100 list in my signature but I'm also working on updating it.

Funny, I didn't even think to include game shows.

I added mostly sitcoms because that's my favorite TV genre. I mixed in some of my favorite drama and sci-fi shows. I included "Saturday Night Live" because it's such a long-running show and it's sketches and musical guests and it's a show I've enjoyed (mostly in the past, however). I added a late night show, because I love Conan O'Brien and it would be great to watch his shows from the very beginning. Of course, he's done three shows, so that fills up three slots but I couldn't leave it at just "Late Night" and even though his time on "Tonight" was short-lived, I really loved his finale, so I had to include that. Plus, who knows how long "Conan" will run. So It'll be a long, long time before I get to the end and then right back to the beginning in '93 again. Which is the plan for the show, to watch one episode a night until I reach the end then back to the beginning!

As for "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood", if ever I was feeling lonely, it would be nice to have Fred Rogers around, talking through the TV at me and telling me that I'm special. He'd be like my friend throughout this whole life sentence.

Reading both your list as well as Zoneboy's I'm seeing a lot of shows I like that I would never see again because I didn't include them on my own list. Heck, I wasted four spots on "Saved by the Bell" alone, ha-ha. But I'm a completest and if I couldn't have the entire run, I wouldn't want any.

It's a good list. I'm seeing some shows I wish I could have on mine, too. For example "The Twilight Zone" and "Quincy, M.E."

Something else I would miss would some movies. I'm not a big movie guy in general but there are some I absolutely love and it's sad to think I'd never see them again... including the Back to the Future trilogy. I'd also miss The Three Stooges, which I didn't include because even though they air on television, they were not TV shows.
