Im sure almost everybody has been in this situation at one point in time. For me, I would have to say my current job and that's why I am looking for a different job elsewhere. I will give you some examples of why I don't like my current job: I work in a family owned restaurant. The people that own it are MEAN. I witnessed a few employees get screamed at by them. The one daughter will scream at employees in front of customers and workers. She screamed at one of the waitresses one time to "get out of my face!" She screamed at the other dishwasher one time saying: "I wish you would quit and get a job at Burger King! Your pathetic! You need to listen to me when I speak!" The way they run the place is terrible. Us dishwashers have to keep up with dishes plus go out and clean tables plus prep cook plus wait on the cooks and waitresses if they need things and wait on the owner when she is cooking to go get her things ALL AT THE SAME TIME. We close at 10pm every night. They expect the lone night time dishwasher to break down the steam table and put all contents away, finish up all the dishes, plus sweep and mop the whole restaurant by 10pm. If he is not finished by 10, he doesn't get paid and they have a fit. Yet most of the time, there is still people inside eating after 10. My second job that I have, the owners are so nice. Everyone here pitches in and helps out one another.
McDonald's was another job I had back in 2006 that I HATED. I hated it so much I quit after 3 weeks. It wasn't worth coming home everyday in tears. The turn over rate in the jobs I mentioned are terrible. I have met so many that have come and gone and come and gone in a very small amount of time. |

I did the McDonald's thing, but it was fun because I met great friends and some cool managers, but it wasn't my worst job.
My worst job was working at this warehouse assembling spaghetti sauce jars. I found the job through a temp agency. Anyway, the whole place had the mentality of prison. We had to wear boots, hard hats, goggles, and these prison type uniforms. It was non stop on the assembly line, you had to be fast and couldn't get behind. There were times that jars of sauce fell and broke, and the managers yelled when that happened. They worked you like dogs, they always called for breaks and lunch, I hated it. Plus, there were a lot of employees who were ex cons and junkies, so they were working to support their habits. I was there two months, and that was the worst and longest two months I ever had in the workplace. Plus, for $4.75 an hour, it definitely wasn't worth it. That was in 1994 |

The worst job was working as a file clerk at an insurance company where the owners were dishonest. If I'd known that before hand I would never have taken that job.

Walmart cashier - I was supposed to be full time but they kept giving me between 37 and 39 hours because they didn't want to pay my insurance. The hours were always really inconsistent. It wasn't uncommon at all for me to work 2 to 11 one day and then 8 to 5 the next. The pay was lousy of course. I had been there for almost a year and there were new hires that were making more than me. When I asked my supervisor why she didn't have an answer. There was one CSM who didn't like me for some reason and she tried to get me fired by stealing $50 out of my drawer. I never knew what time I was getting my break or if I was going to get off work when I was scheduled to or not. I was forced to work holidays. I often had to pick up the slack for lazy co-workers. I was constantly getting blamed for things that weren't my fault. Customers often took their frustrations with the store out on me. Having to deal with annoying, rude and ignorant customers was an every day thing. It was a stressful job and I didn't have the patience or tolerance for it. It got to the point where I was really tempted to spit on someone at least once a week.

I might say the job I'm working at right now since everyone there needs me.
But...I will say being a dishwasher at an Italian Restaurant. One day, there was this punk kid who got hired and said to me "you don't know what you're doing"...I almost reenacted the scene from Billy Batts... ...but...working there for almost two years with a kid who's been there for two days barking me orders was illogical! When I found-out I had to work with that little *******...I said **** this, I'm resigning from this dead-end job! I vowed that I'd never work at a restaurant again! |

Mine was 2007 and i worked Maintenance. Which means in McDonalds language, I did everything, even cooking when they needed me too. Worked my A off for a lousy 8.50 an hour. and in NY that's peanuts. The manager was a 27 year old arrogant smart mouth of a kid. Well she was a kid to me. She used to embarrass the heck out of other employees in front of customers by yelling at them for making small mistakes. I hated that. She put a few girls in tears and even had one quit right on the spot. I thought they were supposed to take you aside and yell at you. The franchise owners were visiting one day and she was afraid of looking bad in front of them so she was pushing all of us to do our best, which I always did anyway. I had a great record of working hard and knowing my job, but i was having a hard time that day raising the flag on the pole because it was severely windy that day. So she starts screaming at me because of it, and up until them not 1 employee argued back. But I wouldn't take it. I got right in her face and started screaming down her neck and scared the hell out of her lol. She didn't fire me,. and I was surprised but didn't care cause I quit anyway. I came within inches of getting thrown in Jail because I was ready to smack her in her arrogant face, but I didn't cause she didn't argue back with me. McDonald's? NEVER AGAIN!!! |

I worked a couple of weeks at the Speedway gas station on the night shift. I worked weekends so it got super busy at night. In addition to helping customers, there were a series of tasks I had to do and get them done before my shift. I was usually so busy with customers I couldn't get it all done. They needed two people to work at night. Also, with the exception of two nice workers, everyone there was rude and so not helpful. Couldn't wait to leave that spot. I called in sick on my last day.

It wasn't my worst job, but it was one I didn't like. At age 19 I worked 2pm to 10:30pm at a glue factory assembly line. I was on with 4 gals, all with far more experience than I had packing tape similar to Scotch tape. Working under artificial light, standing on concrete floor with tape zooming by, it was tiring . Out of the 5 jobs on the line, I could do one somewhat well. You had to be fast. I came home so tired I sleep til about 9am and within 5 hours I was at the job again. I knew I was doing poorly so quit after maybe 10 days. The company is long gone, and the building is now condos.

The worst job I had was working with a former ( not famous but just in the business) actress. She was a class A b****. Everything I did was wrong, which I knew was b.s. After 3 days of abuse, I just quit.
Later on I learned from a friend she went through so many assistants, they gave her a job working by herself soliciting donors. Because she was a really good bs artist, she was charming and engaging to those with the $$$. But to others a disaster. Looking back I think she was just angry and frustrated that she never made it as an actress. I had other crappy jobs, but because they were so low paying, and it was NYC, I just told the abusive bosses to go f themselves, because I knew I could find a temp job paying almost as much, with nice people, and did. However, when the job paid well, I had a high tolerance for tolerating a lot of crap; but without the bucks no way Jose! Now I'm in a fantastic job that pays well with bosses and co-workers I just love. Thank God, in my case, karma caught up! |
