Rams outlast Seahawks, 34-31, in overtime thriller

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Greg Zuerlein kicked a 37-yard field goal in overtime and the St. Louis Rams survived an 18-point fourth quarter rally by the Seattle Seahawks, beating the two-time defending NFC champions 34-31 on Sunday.

Down 31-24 with 53 seconds left, the Rams tied the game after Seahawks defensive back Dion Bailey stumbled on Lance Kendricks' 37-yard touchdown catch. Cary Williams' strip of Nick Foles and 8-yard return had put Seattle up by a touchdown.

The Seahawks opened overtime with an onside kick, as Bradley Marquez caught Steven Hauschka's popped-up attempt. Officials ruled the ball was kicked directly in the air, so Marquez was OK to signal for a fair catch.

After Zuerlein gave the Rams the lead, the defense stopped Marshawn Lynch on 4th-and-1 from the St. Louis 42 to end the game.
The Rams sacked Russell Wilson six times.

Rams' Gurley, Foles send Cardinals to 1st loss, 24-22

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Todd Gurley rushed for all but two of 146 yards in the second half and the St. Louis Rams held on to hand the Arizona Cardinals their first loss of the season, 24-22 on Sunday.

Gurley, the Rams' first-round draft pick, saw his most extensive action as a pro and his 52-yard run set up what proved to be the winning touchdown.

Nick Foles threw for three touchdowns, two after Arizona turnovers, and St. Louis' defense held the Cardinals (3-1) to field goals on four of five trips inside the red zone.

Arizona had a third-and-2 at the Rams 43 in the final minutes, but Carson Palmer overthrew receivers on consecutive plays to turn the ball over on downs.

The Rams (2-2) are 2-0 against the NFC West.

Gurley leads way with 133 yards as Rams handle 49ers 27-6

ST. LOUIS -- Todd Gurley rushed for 133 yards on 20 carries, topping 100 yards for the fourth straight start to open his career, and the St. Louis Rams' defense shut down the San Francisco 49ers and contributed a safety to a 27-6 victory on Sunday.

Gurley, who had a 71-yard touchdown run, is the first rookie to open his career with four consecutive 100-yard games according to STATS with data available since 1991.

Tavon Austin caught a 66-yard touchdown pass and ran for a 2-yard score, compensating for an early lost fumble.

The Rams (4-3) are 3-0 against the NFC West for the first time since 2004.

The 49ers (2-6) were hit hard by injuries, losing Reggie Bush early, and haven't scored a touchdown in two games.

Peterson, Vikings keep Lions winless with 26-16 victory

MINNEAPOLIS -- Adrian Peterson had 192 total yards and the Minnesota Vikings rebounded from a rough season opener for a 26-16 victory Sunday over the Detroit Lions.

Peterson, playing in front of a pro-Vikings crowd for the first time in 658 days, rushed 29 times for 134 yards after receiving a pregame standing ovation out of the tunnel and a couple of "AP! AP! AP!" chants from the fans on a sun-soaked afternoon.

Teddy Bridgewater played a smart, sharp game for Minnesota (1-1) after looking lost Monday in defeat at San Francisco, throwing one touchdown and running for another while finishing 14 for 18 for 153 yards and no turnovers.

Matthew Stafford was erratic for Detroit (0-2), which fell behind 14-0 early in the second quarter and netted just 38 yards rushing against a defense that surrendered 230 yards on the ground to the 49ers.

Teddy Bridgewater pushes Vikings to win over Lions

DETROIT -- Teddy Bridgewater threw for a season-high 316 yards and two touchdowns, and the Minnesota Vikings beat the Detroit Lions 28-19 on Sunday.

Adrian Peterson rushed for 98 yards as the Vikings (4-2) won an NFC North game on the road for the first time in three years.

The Lions (1-6) had an 11-point lead after Matthew Stafford threw TDs on their first two drives, but they blew it because they couldn't protect the quarterback.

Minnesota had a season-high seven sacks, which also was a season worst for Detroit.

Vikings rookie Stefon Diggs had six receptions for 108 yards, including a go-ahead, 36-yard score on which he leaped from just inside the 5 and landed in the end zone in the third quarter.

Peterson had a season-long 75-yard run on the Vikings' next drive, but they stalled and settled for one of Blair Walsh's five field goals.

Peterson, Walsh lift Vikings over Bears 23-20

CHICAGO -- Adrian Peterson ran for 103 yards and Blair Walsh kicked a 36-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Minnesota Vikings to a 23-20 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The Vikings had dropped seven straight at Soldier Field, and it looked like the streak would reach eight when Jay Cutler rolled to his right and plowed over safety Harrison Smith for a 4-yard touchdown with just under five minutes remaining.

But two late scores lifted Minnesota (5-2) to its third straight win.
Stefon Diggs turned a short pass into a 40-yard TD when he spun around Sherrick McManis and went up the left side, tying it with 1:49 left.

After Chicago (2-5) punted, Teddy Bridgewater hit a leaping Charles Johnson for a 35-yard pass that put the ball on the 27. Two plays later Walsh booted the winner, pumping his right arm as the ball went through the uprights.
