Netflix Renews "Longmire" for 5th Season
Netflix Renews "Longmire" for Season Five
10/30/15 by Kate Stanhope "Longmire" isn't hanging up its hat yet. Netflix has renewed the western series for a fifth season, the streaming company announced Friday. The announcement was made on the show's Facebook page with the caption, "We've never been one to back down from a fight. Longmire will return to Netflix for Season 5." The series ran for three seasons on A&E before the cable network opted not to pick up a fourth season in August 2014 despite strong viewership. After petitions and much chatter online, Netflix officially revived the series three months later. The 10-episode fourth season premiered in early September on Netflix. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...on-five-835735 |

The reason behind Longmire not being renew by A&E: Advertising revenue! Longmire drew the wrong type of viewership! It is sad statement but TV networks make the most money on people watch their shows between 18-34 demographics and 18-49 categories. If a show like Longmire who demographics is skew towards the 50 and over category, the network looses money since advertisers do not want this age category for their general products and services. Only specialized products and services focusing on assisted living, vitiamin supplements, reverse mortgage, funeral insurance, medical supplies, class action lawsuits, etc… focus on this age category and they are not willing to advertise on prime time networks! They are happy with their “sub channel networks and early morning spots like 2:00 A.M.-5:00 A.M.
