Question Nick at Nite vs. TBS

Okay, I'm just wondering which station you prefer watching GI on. Although I don't think Nick shows GI anymore, I have a lot of my episodes on tape from Nick and now I'm getting the rest from TBS. Some of the episode I've recorded twice - one from Nick and one from TBS - and in my opinion it seems Nick does a better job of editing the episodes than TBS. There are many times where you can tell TBS cut a scene because it's too "choppy" or there is no transition between scenes or one of the characters says something that makes no sense (when in reality they are referring to an edited scene.)

Does that all make sense or did I just confuse everyone?

Nick at Nite got rid of GI, but it also airs on TV Land.

Oh yes...TV Land... Sorry I never mentioned that one... It slipped my mind because I don't get TV Land right now - only Nick and TBS.

Hmm...good question. I like watching them on both b/c the editing is different. There are some eps that I like the TV Land version better and some that I like the TBS version.
I wish some station would show them unedited!

Yes! I completely agree! It would be nice to the see the entire episode the way it was meant to be. But if they're going to have to edit something, I'd like them to do some decent editing, at least so I can't tell that parts are missing. And this doesn't necessarily refer to just these TV stations. I've seen other shows that have the same problem.

TBS really messes up GI, they should leave the B&W episodes alone...

Yeah...the black and white episodes that are in color look so strange that I laugh through the whole episode and don't get to see it.

TBS has GI so late at night or early in the morning(depending)
that I haven't watched their version.
Wonder if N@N will bring back the GI marathon during the
Summer like they did last year.

TVLand. My grandma could do a better job at editing Gilligan's Island then TBS.

Even my dogs could, I could do better coloring by taking pictures of the eps and painting em on the computer program Paint.

Default editing of old tv shows

It's a horrible habit that cable stations do in order to fit in more commercials. This is a relatively recent practice. When I was about 11 years old (and that happy time was 24 years ago), GI was in syndication and one our local stations began showing it unedited each afternoon about the time I got home from school. In those days, the tv shows were not edited, I guess nobody had thought of that yet, and we were treated to the entire episode each day. I guess I must have seen each episode about 10 or 12 times during the next few years.

For the last 10 days I have been recovering from back surgery, (with nothing to do but surf the net and watch tv) and I've been watching GI again on TVLand, some of these episodes I have not seen for 20 years or more. But I can still spot the places where they have edited something out, and in many cases, I can actually recall what scene or dialogue is missing. It's weird what you remember after so many years.

If you haven't seen it when you flip through the channels then you might not recieve it, you could call cable/satelite and pay to get the channel. It's worth it, it has all the best classic sitcoms.
