Default Season 7 seems weird

It feels like there were some episodes filmed way before the others, and they were just randomly dropped in throughout the year. Am I crazy, or does anyone have any knowledge or theories?

Of course it's weird and you can thank CBS for that. 1980-1981 and 1981-1982 had writer strikes and many sitcoms from that time period had episodes set aside by the networks to air at a later time.

Look at the production numbers, below.

137 7-01 0701 11/Oct/81 Alex Moves In
138 7-02 0623 18/Oct/81 Airport
139 7-03 0702 25/Oct/81 Shake Hands
140 7-04 0705 08/Nov/81 Julie Shows Up (1)
141 7-05 0706 15/Nov/81 Julie Shows Up (2)
142 7-06 0709 29/Nov/81 Dinner at Seven (1)
143 7-07 0710 06/Dec/81 Dinner at Seven (2)
144 7-08 0707 20/Dec/81 Plain Favorite
145 7-09 0708 27/Dec/81 Alex's First Love
146 7-10 0711 03/Jan/82 Not So Silent Partner
147 7-11 0704 17/Jan/82 Gift Horses
148 7-12 0624 24/Jan/82 Stick 'em Up
149 7-13 0713 31/Jan/82 Ann's Failure
150 7-14 0716 07/Feb/82 Grandma's Nest Egg
151 7-15 0715 21/Feb/82 Barbara's Crisis
152 7-16 0718 07/Mar/82 Mrs. O'Leary's Kid
153 7-17 0717 14/Mar/82 Diamonds Are Forever
154 7-18 0714 21/Mar/82 The Defector
155 7-19 0712 28/Mar/82 Meow, Meow
156 7-20 0703 04/Apr/82 Hardball
157 7-21 0721 11/Apr/82 Vegas (1)
158 7-22 0722 18/Apr/82 Vegas (2)
159 7-23 0720 02/May/82 Orville and Emily
160 7-24 0719 09/May/82 Hear Today, Gone Tomorrow
161 7-25 0622 16/May/82 It's in the Cards

It's in the Cards, Airport and Stick Em Up were season 6 episodes that were saved and aired during Season 7.

Other sitcoms with this same issue: Alice, Diff'rent Strokes and The Jeffersons.

Oh, and where did you come up with that? I'd be interested in seeing it.

That explains why Mark wasn't at the birthday party at the Sporting good store in "Stick em' up"!! You were right about that!

http://epguides.com/OneDayataTime/

Scroll down a little bit and look for Episode list & Details from: TVmaze * TV.com * TVRage.

Select either TV.com or TVRage and those lists include the production numbers.

Got it. Whenever I google "[show name] epguides" it always takes me to the TVmaze page, which of course doesn't have it. Thanks for educating.

Learning that "Stick 'Em Up" was intended as a Season 6 episode, it all makes sense now.

I'd always thought it strange that neither Mark nor Alex was at the birthday party (or at least referred to as running late or unable to attend). The first time I saw the episode, I expected one or both of them to show up late to the party and either rescue everyone or get thrown into the storeroom with them.

So season 6 really has 24 episodes, but 3 of them didn't air until the 7th season.

And season 7 also has 24 episodes, but 2 of them didn't air until the 8th season. Auntie Francine #723, and Catcher In The Mud #724.

I figured something was amiss when watching Hardball and Alex looked waay younger than he did a couple days before! Now it makes sense why he wasn't in Stick em Up, either. Thanks for the clarification!
