Default Why TV writers’ rooms still have a diversity problem

http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/c...r_lag_far.html

Do TV diversity programs actually hurt more than they help? As Aisha Harris writes, "Why doesn’t a constant pipeline—even if it’s a narrow one—of writers of color getting entry-level jobs translate into more diverse writers’ rooms? Why don’t many of those writers get a second job, a third, fifth, or ninth job? Being a television writer is a tough job, and it isn’t made any easier when your co-workers view you as a token.”

Great article. Now how about one on women in the writing room?

I'm also interested in the writers' ages. I've read stories about older writers from successful shows not being able to get jobs because they are considered too old by the industry to write for younger audiences.

What percentage of the writers are Republicans? Zero.

You never hear the diversity police complain about that.

Yep. Too many people in Hollywood tend to only concentrate on the east coast or west coast and then forget about the rest of America.

It's been based on my experience that Conservatives get along with Liberals a lot more than the other way around. Liberals tend to isolate themselves away from people that don't share their point of view, even though they like to pretend they care more about people than Conservatives. This is what people in Hollywood do. If you don't tow the party line, don't think about working there. They'll make you an outcast because somehow their "compassionate", "caring" hearts find it all too easy to reject people.

It's nothing but paranoia, generalization, and stereotyping on his part. It's people like him why left and right can't get along.

He also likes to call anyone who says Modern Hollywood is better a Communist.

“Think behind of all that, I bet you 85 percent of those changes, whether it’s in Hollywood or social media are a consequence of Jewish leaders in the industry. The influence is immense, the influence is immense. And, I might add, it is all to the good.” - Joe Biden
