NHL 2015-2016

The NHL Season has begun and the Blue Jackets aren't doing well! My 2nd team, The Pittsburgh Penguins aren't doing hot either.

I know it's the start of the season, but when a team is 0-4...are they mathematically eliminated?

My team relocated 30 miles this season.

the Blue Jackets definitely aren't out of the running yet - they had a slow start the past two years as well.

I am enjoying the free preview of NHL Center Ice which lasts til the end of the month.

Are they going to call them the Brooklyn Islanders now? My Canucks are off to a good start but somehow I doubt they'll keep it up!

I think that sounds like a good name...if the Blue Jackets don't do too well...I hope they STILL stay in Ohio as The Cleveland Blue Jackets.

Officially they stay the New York Islanders.

I don't think the Blue Jackets are moving any time soon - they still sell out most games even when they are in a slump. I haven't been to one of their games in a long while because its too far to drive and tickets too steep, so I root for the Canucks, LA Kings, Washington and Dallas.

Normally, I would be the one to start beating the drums for another season and give you a little friendly warning about my team playing your team tonight except for the fact that my other team is in the midst of making baseball history. Leafs coach Mike Babcock (I'm still trying to get used to that) actually welcomes this, saying before the season started that he hoped the Blue Jays would go on a long run before anyone notices how his team is playing, something that is extremely rare in hockey-mad Toronto where the Leafs' every move is dissected with all the intensity of the Zapruder films. By the time the Jays are finally done, even the Leafs might be mathematically eliminated.

At the other end of the spectrum, (where the Flyers no longer play) the race for the Cup is open among the usual group: Tampa Bay, Rangers, Chicago, Montreal , LA, Anaheim, and watch out for Calgary close behind. One of these teams is sure to win it. I just hope and pray it's not the Habs!

One more item of note for you fans in the West: Watch out for Connor McDavid, the hottest rookie prospect since Sidney Crosby. He is the real deal and will be worth watching every game.

The NHL's only remaining winless team, the 0-7 Columbus Blue Jackets, have fired their coach Todd Richards and have replaced him with, of all people, John Tortorella, the Coach From Hell!

Last season, the team suffered through an incredible amount of injuries and the results were not pretty. This summer, they stole Brandan Saad from Chicago but despite the instant upgrade and a relatively healthier lineup, the team has struggled badly and changes were needed, but seriously, John Tortorella?? If nothing else, they should at least be more fun to watch but this will not help at all. This might even hurt their good younger players like Saad, Ryan Johansen, and Boone Jenner, who aren't used to Tortorella's hyper-energy approach to coaching. Then again, I don't think anyone can ever get used to it. As if having David Clarkson on your team isn't painful enough.

as a Canucks fan I can tell you without any hesitation that hiring John Tortorella is a TERRIBLE move. His ideas aren't just ground-breaking, they are idiotic - have your best offensive players stop trying to score goals, make them focus on blocking shots and being defensive-minded above all else; if you find a line that is successful and gels well together, make sure they they never play on a line together, so that they have a chance to "build character" and "team vision".

the Blue Jackets would have been better off promoting the mascot - or bringing back the dreaded Mike Keanan - he's just as crazy.

I understand that they had to do something to send a message, but this was the wrong move.
