Default Question About Gilligan's Island

Was it ever decided in the pilot why the castaways decided to call Giligan's Island, Giligan's Island? Or was this something that was never explained on screen? (Which was the case of Gilligan's first name...Willie.)

I don't think the Castaways ever actually decided to call it Gilligan's Island. In one episode, when Zsa Zsa Gabor's character Erika Tiffany-Smith asked about the name Mr. Howell said he wanted to call it Howell-something (forget exactly what he said). So it never really had a name on the show.
It was just named that 'cause Gilligan's the main character.

No,they never actually explained it on the screen. It's Sherwood Schwartz who decided about the name.He was looking for a funny name and so he looked it up in the phone's book. When he saw the name Gilligan,he thought that sounded right so,that's how Gilligan got his island

That is a very interesting bit of trivia. I never knew how they decided on the name.

Might as well have called it Gilligan's Island. He's the one that always fouled up the rescue and made 'em have to stay, LOL!

I have this game that's really fun ,it's called Blast from the Past where the stars ask you questions. You try and win to get a interview with a Classic tv show actor. That tid bit was on the game. I never knew that till I played Blast From The Past.

I was wondering did the series ever really explain why they took so much close? What was the reason for each character to go on that tour? And all the bare essentials about the 3 hour tour journey

Default Weird phonebook

That was one werid phonebook. But how come most of them wore the same thing every day when they had so many clothes? It's probably the only live action tv show (other than the munsters) where everyone wore the same thing every day. It's like a cartoon.

(First post ever by me on this board!)
