I wish that they would bring out the complete series on DVD. Does anyone know when or if it will come out on DVD?

I recently ordered the 1st season DVD, and should have it in a few days. I ordered for a couple reasons. First, I found a great deal for it on Amazon, $11.71 total. Second, the 1st season DVD has uncut episodes, unlike Antenna TV's edited airings.
But the question is: Why hasn't the complete series of ODAAT been released on DVD yet? It's been 8 years since the 1st season was released. All of Norman Lear's other popular 70's shows are now complete on DVD. All In The Family, Maude, Jeffersons, Good Times, Sanford And Son, and Mary Hartman. So what's the problem with One Day At A Time? I'm surprised a studio like Shout Factory hasn't picked this up and finished it on DVD. Perhaps eventually it will happen. |

The 1st season DVD I ordered arrived in the mail today. Cool! I will watch some episodes tonight!!
The 1st season DVD has uncut episodes, so there are scenes not shown on Antenna TV. Bonnie Franklin is also looking her cutest here in this 1st season.

Shout needs to release the rest. I no longer watch Antenna TV because of the credit crunching so I hope this comes to DVD so I can see it with the full credits and unedited episodes.

I think eventually ODAAT will be completed on DVD. It's the only one of Norman Lear's popular 70's shows that's not been completed on DVD. If Mary Hartman can be complete on DVD, certainly ODAAT can be complete too.
I just don't know what the problem is. Maybe the 1st season DVD did sell so poorly and another studio is reluctant to take it further. I'm not sure if I would want the complete series DVD or not. I do like the earlier seasons better. However, the series was fairly consistent during it's run, and each season contains a share of good episodes. And the cast changes that took place over the years kept things fresh and interesting. So it's a tough call. I watched 2 episodes from the 1st season DVD yesterday. It was great to see the complete episodes! Also, Bonnie Franklin and Richard Masur have good acting chemistry together. I didn't like the show as much after the early part of season 2 when Richard left. Although there was that one episode a few years later, "Indianapolis Story" when Richard came to visit.

It's not the type of show you watch over and over due to all the dramatic multi-part episodes each season. The show was popular in the 70's because people were watching it for the first time. |

I have unedited episodes in great quality. They run about 25 minutes. |

Please don't compare AITF with this crappy a$$ show. You know damm well there were lots of funny eps of AITF that were classic. One Day at a Time was 85% Drama and 15% comedy which is why it's hard to watch over and over again like Jeffersons AITF Fresh Prince Good Times |
