Default Working in the Telecenter

Would you have wanted to work in the telecenter?

Obvious pros include helping potentially solve cases by examining the caller's authenticity, fielding calls for crackpots and pranksters (this might be a con, but you'd be helping), and of course, standing within a few glorious inches of the Stack man.

Cons would include stressful responsibility (including not wanting to spook potential witnesses/tipsters), dealing with crackpots and pranksters, and having to stay cool and calm as you flag down LE officials in the telecenter waiting for tips about fugitives.

Personally, I think it would have been an amazing responsibility, but I'm not sure I would be good enough for the job.

Exactly how I feel!! I would love to have that job, but not sure if I could handle it!

The guy playing computer solitaire looked to have a pretty sweet gig.

I would have done it. The adrenaline rush of possibly being on the heels of catching a criminal or reuniting loved ones would have been an awesome feeling.

And if I ever got the nerve to approach him, I would have asked Robert Stack to record my outgoing voicemail message.

It probably would have been amusing working in the telecenter on the rare occasions where they aired a "lost heirs" case. You just know they probably had to deal with a bunch of cranks calling in trying to claim the money.

You'd think someone would have done an AMA on it. But there was nothing in my search.

I would love to have been the person who answered the call from the grade school casanova who kissed both the girl with polio AND the friend she was searching for.

Was that actually UM, or was that BASEketball? I know I've seen someone in the telecenter playing solitaire, but I thought it was a spoof...

Yes. I would have loved working in the telecenter. It would have been really exciting on those cases where moments after the broadcast aired, the phones went crazy with tipster calls...

Yeah, it was BASEketball. I'd be pretty horrified if it happened IRL.

I like to imagine that if that ever did happen, an angry Stack, LE, or even FBI agent would be glowering at them, waiting to pounce during commercial breaks.

I would've loved to have worked in the telecenter in the Farina episodes. You wouldn't of had to do anything since it wasn't real!
