Default Music can't admit liking, but you absolutely LOVE

I know we've had variations of posts like this before, but hey, people post repetitive topics all the time. I might as well join them.

So? Is there any particular band, artist, or song that you don't really admit to people you like, but totally love?

I don't know if the band I like is really all that bad. Actually, they were voted the "Most Underrated Band" in the Millenium Rolling Stone issue. And I totally agree.
It's more of the peer pressure to be eclectic about my music taste. Especially in my Journalism class. They pretty much listen to indie bands and Bob Dylan ALL THE TIME. I mean, I respect their tastes, and Bob Dylan can write great songs, as long as he gives them to others to actually sing them. (Dylan cannot sing. Period).
These people who claim to be SO "open-minded" can't even give my taste some respect. ( They can lecture me about Modest Mouse and Radiohead. But I can't even mention perfering the likes of Oasis and The Smiths).

Anyway, this particular band happens to be Duran Duran. Okay, don't scream all at once.
Personally, I think they were the perfect band to usher in MTV. They exploited it perfectly. Because if it wasn't for their videos like "Rio" and "Hungary Like the Wolf", arguably they're would of never been the great and epic videos from artists that followed. Or at least, they're would of been some catching up to do.
Besides that, they made pretty decent music. Yeah, it's the 80s. But it's the 80s at it's finest.

I don't know, maybe I'm biased. The first "record" (actually it was a cassette tape)
I ever recieved was the "Come Undone" single from my mom for Christmas 93' . I think my sister got "Ordinary World".
It may sound from the gifts we recieved that year, we're big Duran fans. No way.
Whenever "The Reflex"(my favorite single from their earlier days) comes on the radio, my mother always says, "Oh god, I'm going to suffer a seizure any moment now". My sister doesn't perfer the song that much either. If you've heard the song, you might know what the seizure thing is all about.

Wow, this post has turned out pretty long. I'll be surprised if anyone's still reading. After all, Duran Duran is SUCH an engaging subject.

Red face

Don't worry Cokies - Duran Duran aren't that bad.
I'm pretty embarrassed to admit that I still listen to Roxette sometimes.
God, I can't believe I'm saying this.........when I was about 10 years old I was so in love with Take That (I think they only had one hit in America but they were massive in the UK) and I still own all my old Take That albums! I haven't listened to them in aaaaaaaaaages though!
I really must say in my defence that my taste in music has improved drastically in the past 10 years!!

I'll probably be banned from the boards for divulging a few of my favorites, but here goes:
The Bee Gees, Barry Manilow, Yanni, and I just love the old classic disco hits.

Brittney Spears *falls over dead, flat on face*

Jaci Velasquez and ZOEgirl... none of my family is religous. They crack up at me when I listen to my Christian

The Cheiftans and The Wolftones. Both of these bands are Irish ones.

Hey, my mom used to put on the "Pretty Woman" soundtrack on in the car all the time. So Roxette wasn't unfamiliar. I really liked "It Must of Been Love".

Take That! Ha! I remember "Back For Good". It's funny, because no one was really familiar with the "boy band" term yet. I just remember thinking they were a band, but didn't have their instruments in the video. Silly me.

Hmmm....good topic...

Well I do like the song "The Call" by Backstreet Boys. And I liked "Bye Bye Bye" by N'Sync. But those are really the only songs by them that ever really caught my attention. I will admit that just like about every girl in my generation, I listened to the New Kids On The Block back in the day. I still have the cassettes, but that's no surprise since I never sell music.

I also like alot of the easy listening, light rock type songs. I don't own any of that kind of music, but I don't cringe when my parents turn it on. I also love Big Band music, and I do have some CDs of that.

I also like some rap and hip hop. And trust me, with the crowd I run with, that is something I don't openly admit too often just because it isn't worth the headache of having everyone yell at me. Some people can be so closed minded.....

Didn't we all. I remember being SO jealous that my sister got to go to their concert and I didn't. That's besides the fact that I was only like 6 years old at the time. My "Step By Step" concert video is somewhere in my closet...

LOL Donnie and Jordan were my favourites!
I used to tell all my friends that I was related to Joey cos we both have the same surname. The crazy thing is they believed me - 6 year-olds are so easy to dupe!!

I also like music by New Kids On The Block. Does anyone here like the music of the Beatles? Twist and Shout is like one of my all-time favorite songs.
