I'm not sure how many of you saw this episode, (I saw it a year ago on CBS, but don't think it was repeated on ID or TLC or any of those channels, at least not yet), but I found it to be the most horrifying episode ever.
It concerned Kristen, who was 14-15 years old in the mid 90's and was attending school in a smaller town in California. One day, the science teacher -- Dan Whitters -- called her into the science room with the shades pulled down. Kristen doesn't remember anything that happened, but one could only guess as Whitters would receive various complaints of sexual misconduct and lewd behavior that year (and had ones in the few years preceding as well.) Thankfully, Whitters drove his car off a cliff and committed suicide shortly thereafter. But the story doesn't end there, unfortunately. Kristen was then pursued by another teacher, this time the female physical education teacher named Julie Correa, who was in her mid 20's and married at the time. Correa sexually mistreated Kristen in every way imaginable, and Kristen estimates she was attacked 400-500 times (disgusting and terrifying!) Correa also kept close tabs on Kristen by providing her with a cell phone (then a rarity, especially for a child) which she kept in a hollowed out Spanish-English dictionary Correa personally constructed. Correa would also enter Kristen's home at night and hide under her bed and in her closet and wait for an opportune moment. Needless to say, what happened to Kristen was horrible and I'm thankful she was able to have a successful life afterward and she is happily married. (One of the other victims at the school attempted suicide a couple times). Correa is now in prison, but her sentence was rather light and she is set to be released in several years. |

I haven't seen this 48 Hours, but is this the girl who ended up calling the female who sexually abused her after finding out she was a principal in CA now and the lady admitted everything while the call was recorded? I listened to a story like that on a podcast but I can't remember the name of anyone involved.

OK cool. I just realized I read your post wrong and this is going to be on tonight. I will be sure to watch! Interesting story! I know the podcast was called Sword and Scale but I think the episode was just generally about people who abuse children and were caught, not just about this girl, which might be why I don't remember all the details.
