I remember seeing an episode of this show in which (I vaguely think!) Danny's agent was having a baby, and Danny recited a poem about what a boy is -- it included something about what is found in a boy's pocket (??) -- I saw this shortly after my son was born and have watched the show whenever it happened to be on in the 13 years since (not very often unfortunately!), but have never seen it again. Still, the poem stuck with me as something so special that I wanted to write it down in his baby book, and I guess that if I'm still looking to find it after all this time, it MUST have been VERY special!! Can anyone help me to find this? Thanks a million!!

Hi Elsie !
I remember the episode you were talking about and I wrote it down one time. Here it is. Between the innocense of babyhood and the dignity of manhood, we find a delightful creature called a boy. And boys are found everywhere. On top of, underneath, inside of, climbing on, swinging from, running around or jumping to. Mothers love them; little girls hate them; older sisters and brothers tolerate them; adults ignore them and Heaven protects them. A boy is an angel with dirt on it's face, beauty with a cut on it's finger, wisdom with bubble gum it's hair, and the hope of our future with a frog in his pocket. And when you're busy, a boy can be a bothersome, intruding jungle of noise. And when you want him to make a good impression, his brain turns to jelly. Nobody else is so early to rise, or so late to supper. Nobody else gets so much fun out of trees and dogs and breezes. Nobody else can cram into one pocket a rusty knife, a half-eaten apple, three feet of string, a pack of baseball cards, two gumdrops, six cents, a sling shot, a chunk of unknown substance, and a genuine super sonic code ring with a secret compartment. A boy is a truly magical creature. You can lock him out of your workshop, but yo can't lock him out of your heart. You can get him out of your study but you can't get him out of your mind. You might as well give up because he's your catore, your boss and your master. He's a freckled face, bubble gum chewing, cat chasing bundle of noise. But when you come home at night, with only the shattered pieces of you're hopes and dreams, he can mend them like new with just two magical words, " Hi Dad ! " Let me know if you receive it. Take care ! John |
