Default Happy New Year 2

I liked this ep! I never saw it before? Maybe this was part of that Mothers day marathon? And they didn't put it on in the regular order last time around! IDK

Besides the original New Years show they put on at the retirement home, where Barbara was Elton John, I sort of remember an ep where Mark and Max were both in an ep of putting on a show at the retirement home? Is that right? Was there three eps. at the retirement home?

Anyway LOL!!! I was totally thinking of Opus when 'Cuddles Cooper" was performing! OMG!!! She really looked WOW!!!!

'From the moment you walked in the joint, I could tell you were a man of distinction ,a real big spender!!! Hey Big spender, spend a little time with me"!!

And Max and Schneider's act was cute! Max really can hold his own!! I mean, he was in this ep without Julie. And he did just fine, he interacts really well with the cast! It wasn't awkward that he was in the show without his wife! Where did they say Julie was? Weird that she wouldn't be home with her new husband and family on New Years eve!

Perhaps Mackenzie missed this episode because she was off on another of her binges?

This episode was OK. I like the other New Year episode better where Barbara imitates Elton John. That is funny. But yea, she did look sexy in this episode singing Hey Big Spender. Hot legs.

I didn't care much for the previous episode where Max and Schnieder are feuding with each other. Max acted arrogant and had a loud mouth. The episode before is when Ann was in the hospital. Of course, she shows no ill effects in the next episode, she looks and acts normal like nothing happened, certainly not like someone that just had a heart problem. As I said before, only in the magical world of TV can this happen. The writers create a scenario for an episode, then completely drop it in the next one.

Oh yeah for sure Mack was out because of a binge or she was already suspended because of drugs or something! I meant where was the character of Julie supposed to have been? I know they said, but I don't remember what the reason was!

The other ep. was switching back and forth from the Giants / Redskins game on commercials, but what I saw I liked! Being I'm a Max fan ! As a woman I like him, ( Hotty) but I could see where a man would find him arrogant. That's how the character of Max was written. He's obnoxious at times, but is a good person! Seems to love his new wife's family!

LOL about Ann's "heart attack"!!! I mean it's possible ,but not probable! She's only in her 30's.In really good shape, not overweight or too underweight! Unless it was an inherited heart condition. And come on, she wasn't under that much stress! The woman enjoys working and she's the type that can handle high pressure and stress! Yep, only on TV ,she would be completely fine by the next week!

You know I did some research about Barbara. She was born in 1960 and this episode aired at the end of 1979 so she was about 19 when the episode aired. I say this because retro talked about her hot legs. You know by this point I would think a lot of males would be watching for her. I know I would if I was born back in the late 60s.

I didnt watch the New Year's episode. Honestly, I just found them boring and not very funny. In fact, they were kind of stupid to me. But that's just my opinion.

I'd have to choose Scheinder over Max. Max just comes off so arrogant its sickening. Dial it down a bit dude.

I missed Ann's heart attack episode. But how many times on tv shows where somebody has something fatal happen to them and there fine the next week?

Let's see what I can contribute here:

-No, it didn't run on M day, just on the regular schedule. Maybe it was ran on a Friday and you were out with Mr. Bud Wiser?

-Yes, there's a 3rd Mark/Francine New Year show down the road.

-I didn't watch yesterday, but because I knew it was on I dialed up Cuddles C on YouTube earlier in the afternoon. That was the show with the vicious triplet song where they want to get a gun and kill their sisters, right?

I prefer Michael Lembeck's role in Mary Hartman, as goofy TV reporter Clete Meisenheimer. Not as much in One Day At A Time. That's not to say he does a poor job in ODAAT, that's not the problem, he just plays a different type of character. He's a newly married family man and usually acts more serious. Sometimes he can be arrogant too. Compare that to his goofy role in Mary Hartman, I think he's funnier and more likeable in that show.

Yeah! I can see that! I think in real life he has a silly, fun, cool personality! Comedy is in his family genetics! .His Dad and Sister both being mainly in comedic acting! Seems they all would be really fun and cool! And Michael also directs comedy shows and movies, that reflects a person with a fun personality!

And like I said before that is how the Max role was written. I thought he was funny being kind of a d*ck. If he were a Yes dear type husband it wouldn't have been as funny for ODAAT! ! But he really did mellow out, as time went on! And ending up raising Little Annie without a wife, he showed a nice, responsible side of Max! Until he came onto his married Sister in Law!

I would have LOVED to have seen him as "Kaptain Kool", before he even played Clete!! I do remember him as Clete! I liked him too in that role!

LOL!!! With me it would be Bud Wiser's cousin Mr. Miller!!! I'm a Miller Lite drinker! Maybe it was a Friday, but even drinking I still watch ODAAT ! And I don't drink so many that I would forget if I see a whole episode! Could be it was on a Sunday, and my hubby's family was over visiting! They come over on Saturday's and Sunday's sometimes! That probably is it!

Oh and yeah!!! I didn't think I imagined another ep at the retirement home! I thought there were three!

I must say again, your Barbara did a really good job with that sexy act ! That was cool letting her be a little risqué for a change! LOL! I wonder if Max already was thinking" maybe I married the wrong sister" ?, when he saw how hot she looked !

Yea, Michael Lembeck is mostly known these days as a director. He has several directing credits on his resume.

Kaptain Kool was part of that Krofft Supershow, 70's Saturday Morning kiddie show. I never watched it. By the time it aired, I had pretty much stopped watching the Saturday Morning kiddie shows.

One show I used to watch in 1974 on Saturday Mornings was The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show. Real silly kiddie humor, although the skits with Rod Hull and his Emu puppet were usually pretty funny. And those Chucky Margolis skits were funny too. Avril Chown served as eye candy for the male viewers, she was very cute indeed. The Hudson Brothers had talent, but their fame was short lived. Totally Out Of Control is a good album they made, melodic pop rock definitely inspired by The Beatles. Next came the Hollywood Situation LP, another good one. Songs from this album were presented on their Saturday Morning TV show. In 1975, the Ba-Fa LP was released, but by this time The Hudson Brothers fame was already beginning to fade. The TV exposure was supposed to help their career, but it ended up doing them more harm than good.

Yep!! We were too old already for Kaptain Kool!!! But being a teenage girl, if I knew Michael was in it I might have watched anyway, even if it was a kids show if a cute guy was in it, what the heck!

I do remember the Hudson brothers!!! They were cute!!! Mainly nowadays the one that is remembered the most is Bill . Marrying Goldy Hawn and he is the father of Kate Hudson!!

That's correct about Bill Hudson. Brett Hudson became a TV producer and writer. Mark Hudson is still involved with music, musician, producer and songwriter.

After Goldy , Bill was married to Cindy Williams / Shirley Feeney . IDK if they are still married or not?

No, they divorced in 2000. They had 2 kids while they were married. Bill has 5 children with 3 different women, so he's spread himself around a bit. From information I've read, he had an ugly divorce from Goldie Hawn and is estranged from the 2 kids he had with her.
