Default What shows did you watch with you parents

question for all: what shows did you watch with your parents back in the day? my mom had to be with me if i watched The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, China Beach, and Twin Peaks because she was afraid that of of the characters would say something that my mom didn't like(such as disagreeing with her stance on abortion or drunk driving or the like since she and i went to a church that didn't agree about things people said on TV) i didn't need that kind of supervision though for game shows though

Mostly westerns with my dad. He liked The Rifleman, Branded, Laredo, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Virginian, Wagon Train, etc. Some of these were reruns when we watched them. My mom didn't watch much TV, she worked part-time and then had household duties and 3 kids to take care of. But she would set up the ironing board and watch The Carol Burnett Show and sometimes The Mary Tyler Moore Show while she ironed.

YEAH!!! My Mom too!!! She would iron, fold laundry or dust the living room while watching her soaps ! My Mom was a fulltime housewife ,stay at home Mom. And she felt like if she wasn't CONSTANTLY cleaning something or cooking something or something in the way of the house that she wasn't on her job! Only time she relaxed and sat in the day was if a neighbor lady came over and they drank coffee or tea and gossiped!

^ Yeah, they were always so busy cleaning, cooking, etc. And back then our dads wouldn't do anything at all that was related to housework. lol! I helped out as I got older though.

Yeah! And my Mom made sure we were all quiet and behaving around the time my Dad was due home. She would be like "He's been working hard all day, don't bother him with anything and be good"! Even if my siblings and I were fighting and almost killing each other that day , we had to calm down and act like Angels ! Unless we had a fever of 110 ,were bleeding to death or our appendix burst it was Don't bother Daddy right after work!

And Mom always had a a delicious dinner ready and she would fix her hair and do her makeup before he came home too!

you know me and my mom would react to things on TV shows like on TJW or TTD when Pat Finn or Patrick Wayne would try to get a champion to risk everything for a lot more or when Dana Delany on "China Beach" would be grieving over a soldier's death or when "Molly Dodd"(Blair Brown) said something really funny!

My mom and grandmother used to watch Secret Storm and Guiding Light together, along with As the World Turns. My mom learned a lot of her English from watching those.

Here are some shows we watched in primetime as a family:

Walt Disney (Wonderful World of Color, etc.)
Flip Wilson
Norman Lear sitcoms: All In the Family, Maude, Jeffersons
The Waltons
Little House on the Prairie
CBS Saturday lineup: The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, The Carol Burnette Show
Barney Miller
Empty Nest
Coach
The Cosby Show
Home Improvement

Here are some we watched mostly in syndication:

It's a Living
Mama's Family
Everybody Loves Raymond
King of Queens

Some of the males in the family would watch Vegas, Barretta, Charlie's Angels, Hunter, Matlock, Cannon, Rockford Files, etc.
