I've watched the episode of "Mama's Family" lots of times but something just dawned on me. Was this episode in someway a tribute to the very well-known 'Vitameatavegamin' medicine Lucy tries to do a commercial for on "I Love Lucy"?

It's possible. I mean, Carol Burnett was hugely influenced by Lucille Ball. Ball and Burnett were close friends, and, in fact, Ball threw Burnett her first baby shower.

True, but at this time Carol was not speaking to Vicki, so it's highly unlikely Carol had any influence of this episode at all.
