did you schedule your activities around your favorite TV shows? i did that with a few of my favorite shows like China Beach, some of the NBC sitcoms and Sisters and even Life Goes On(but i would sometimes watch the end of an NFL game on CBS or NBC instead)

If my favorite shows were on, I'd drop everything to watch it.

I do remember one time I was doing my homework and I was watching The Joker's Wild(id say it was the 1990-91 version with Pat Finn) but I sometimes would get yelled at for not doing my homework sometimes(remembered one time I was watching a China Beach episode "With A Little Help From My Friends" I was so into the episode that I didn't do my homework! of course my mom didn't say anything about it unless I really didn't do my homework(would make sure my homework paper was close to the TV I would dance to songs like the ones on China Beach or even church services too!

I used to schedule around TGIF. I couldn't miss Fridays on ABC. Keep in mind that I was in elementary-middle school in the 90s.
My favorite TGIF schedule was "Family Matters", "Boy Meets World", "Step by Step", & "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper"-----this was a great lineup. |

I haven't scheduled anything around a TV show since 2007. I can play my favorite shows anytime I want to. "Appointment TV" is DEAD!

Only as a last resort; mostly I was able to tape or burn them for viewing at a convenient time.

What I tend to do, with there being so little to watch on TV, is schedule my viewing time around sports. When there is a game that I want to watch, I make sure I don't miss it or even part of it or else I'll end up regretting it later. (Don't you hate it when you learn the final score before you get to watch the game?)
If your favorite sitcom happens to be on at 8 pm on a Thursday night and you miss it, there are many ways in which you can catch up and watch it later at any time, but if you miss all or part of a live sporting event that you have been looking forward to for a long time, such as this week when the baseball playoffs are on at the same time the hockey season is starting, then there may be a key moment in that game that stands out over all the others that you have to see live or it loses its appeal even if you watch it on tape later on. For example, when the World Series comes on, if there's another moment that comes up like Joe Carter's home run vs the Phillies in 1993 and someone like Jose Bautista or Josh Donaldson happens to repeat history, I want to see it right at that second, and not even a "Gilligan's Island" marathon can make me switch channels. |
