how many of you have an old railroad right-of-way near you where the tracks were taken up and it's become a path for hiking/walking/jogging/bicycling, etc.?

Where I grew up in Michigan there is an old railroad bed that runs through the woods behind our house. Along that old trail is a long forgotten cemetery in the woods which you can hardly find anymore. Most of the headstones are gone but a few remain lying half buried and broken. Some date back to the Civil War years. It's a sad thing to find these stones long forgotten.

This is not a hiking trail per se but it is easily followed through the woods as it runs along an old railroad grade.

Also where we camp in northern Michigan there is an old railroad bed which was used in the lumbering days. Most of the old railroad tracks up there are not used anymore. Since so many good roads and I-75 were constructed the need for railroads died out. Along M-76 there is a track that runs along side of the highway but I have never seen a train on it! I'm not sure if it is still used. I'll have to google it to find out.

About 20 miles south of Daytona Beach they're building a "Rail Trail" thats going from Edgewater, Florida all the way to Sanford, Florida.
