Default What is the best decade? worst decade? and why?

Best decade: 1950s because they had great music, very nice cars, stylish clothing, good tv shows etc....
Worst decade(s)-2000s and 2010s. I hate just about everything from these two decades.

Best Decade is the 1980s because i like the hair & fashion. Plus plenty of great music, Nintendo was introduced to the public & Many of the Cable TV Channels were at their prime years.

Worst Decade is the 1930s because of The Great Depression, China Floods of 1931, 1935 Labor Day Hurricane & Dust Bowl are the main reasons.

I would agree that the 1930s were the worst years of the 20th Century. Things steadily improved from 1945-73, after which time the oil crisis hit the West hard and things started to deteriorate. The 1980s prosperity was illusory based on a mountain of debt, the crash 30 years on being just one indication of how exposed Mr. Average had become.

I like the 70's because my kids were little and we had moved into our new home.(We're still in it!) Also the music was great and there were so many good tv shows, sitcoms and dramas. I love the 70's!

The 30's had to be the worst. Not only because of the Depression but those were the years of The Dust Bowl. Also organized crime was running rampant . My grandparents have told me stories about the depression and trying to raise a family. My grandpa left Colorado and rode boxcars to Flint Michigan to get work in the auto plants.

Yes, that is my choice for best decade.

For worst, I am tempted to also pick the 2000s and 2010, but I think I will pick the 1930s. Living through a depression would not be fun!

I would say all decades are not that great. 1950s, I think were great, but that was a lot of racial oppression and whatnot. 1960s were turbulent.

I believe the pinnacle of US civilization was 1962. So, the 1950s, with America ascending it's post WWII super power status....probably gets my knod, even though I barely remember them. Cheap energy really helps out here....gasoline was almost give-away....natural gas producers were still trying to kill coal as the primary form of home heating....we had much to be thankful for. After 1962, the honeymoon was over.

Worst decade? Although I'm doing okay personally, I think the 2020's gets my vote. All the disease, the climate, so many political factions at each other's throats...EVERYBODY is a victim just because being one is so profitable....we no longer consider ourselves a "people" we just gnash at each other over what we (each) contest as "our" rights. I suspect we are headed down the tube, and just haven't faced the reality yet .

Glad I got the chance to live my life before all the fools ruined the world.

As I see it and for me, all the decades have been Good Enough, Except the one we;re going thru now.
Obvious reasons. Just thinking more on my worst decade, it actually started in 2010 and all the damage done from hip replacement. and work I tried to do to fix what I possibly could and then the onslaught of covid in 2020....so that's the worst times last 12 yrs.

I like all the decades but I am most interested in the late 1960s and 70s. There was a lot of good music and TV at that time. I would love to time travel and experience some of the culture of that period firsthand.

Well said Jim. Especially about the 2020's. Hopefully things will get better especially if people stop whining so much!

Whenever I watch movies such as Apollo 13, the women's hair styles and fashions always look so hot.

Someone mentioned the 30's, well I was born in 1938, and we all made our way as we never had anything and did a lot with what we had...lived very very simply...
