Not sure if this was posted yet, but a federal judge dropped all drug smuggling charges against Wallace Thrasher last month. The reason is because most feel that he is dead, in addition to the passage of time and the deaths of some of the original witnesses.

I thought he moved to Washington D.C. and went by the name "John McCain" now.

Had no idea, but it makes sense. I wonder what would happen if Thrasher were to resurface?

ETA: Does this mean the authorities are now buying into the theory that Thrasher died in a plane crash on a drug run? Because during the filming of the segment, they were highly skeptical that Thrasher was even dead at all. His wife gave them a fake death certificate, but claimed that she did so because she was afraid she would lose everything if it was proven that Thrasher died on a drug run. But she still insisted he was dead. This whole case just got a lot more confusing. I went from thinking he was definitely dead (because he never resurfaced or reconnected with his wife), to possibly being alive (living in Central America somewhere), right back to it could go either way.

Wouldn't he be in his mid or late 60's now. Unless his plane truly crashed or was murdered by drug smugglers in the 80's,he would probably be alive. Seemed a fairly healthly looking guy no reason why he couldn't live a long natural life on some island.
