Default Most Annoying Sitcom Couple

Who do you think was the most annoying sitcom couple of all time? I will go with Michael and Stephanie from Newhart because they are both shallow, self centered and oblivious to everyone else. Michael is hyper and talks in alliterations and Stephanie constantly cries and throws tantrums when things don't go her way. She also isn't very nice. It's also why they're my least favorite characters on the show. I prefer Larry and the Darryls to Michael and Stephanie.

Feel free to post your nominations.

I was having trouble thinking of one, but Michael and Stephanie are perfect for each other. They're actually part of the reason I can't sit through Newhart...I knew too many people like that in real life who made me want to throw them off a cliff.

Great thing about Ted and Georgette is that they balanced one another out. I loved how sweet and occasionally naive Georgette was, but could still manage to put Ted in his place if the time called for it (with a little coaxing from Mary).

Ron Swanson and Tammy II!

Ray and Deborah Romano. Lazy, spoiled weinie, mama's boy married to a screaming, angry, resentful (and too hot for his sorry self) woman.

I don't think couples like those come close to the neverending sagas like Ross-Rachel or Ted-Robin, though. It makes me sad that it looks like Penny and Leonard are going into that category on Big Bang Theory.
kind of agree about penny and lenoard penny esp has become very irritating over the last year or so

I thought the actors elevated the characters from what was written.

I'm in with you there-- I never liked them either.

Nobody caught it, but the characters names were Barone. Ray Romano played Ray Barone. Oops.....

Actually, I loved the parents, Frank and Marie (Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle). I wished the show was centered around them. They were the funny ass ones.

I never could get into ELR. If anything, Ray's brother was annoying and a mama's boy.

Dan and Roseanne Connor. It was like watching a trainwreck. They weren't happy together so why stay together and make each other miserable.

I'm the exact opposite when it comes Everybody Loves Raymond. I can't stand Frank and Marie. Two of the most self-centered, hateful, miserable people ever on TV. I would've cut them out of my life permanently.

I find Hal and Lois from Malcolm In The Middle sometimes annoying.

Actually Frank and Marie were two of my favorite characters on the show. I would have liked to have given them their own series in the retirement community with Seinfeld's parents, Frank Costanza and the other unhinged elderly. That would have been hilarious!

The parents were both insane. Frank was crazy (literally), loud and opinionated)and the mother was a control freak, who spoiled her children and no one was good enough for her kids.

They also loved each other, despite the sniping. Many older couples who have been together a long time do that. One episode I found touching was the episode where Ray did the "ride along" in the cop car with Robert and saw Robert thwart a hold up at the pizza place and he tried to tell the parents and neither Frank nor Marie wanted to hear about it with Frank telling Ray to shut up. The reason being is that they loved their son Robert (who always felt neglected of the two sons) and did not want to be reminded of his dangerous work.

Now Debra herself needed a valium. Or kill Ray for the insurance money.....
