He was a successful man who lived in a nice area and he was concerned about the safety of his daughter because of where JJ lived which is understandable if they were rich. Anything could have happened to her when she went to see JJ and that what he was trying to avoid.

Where he messed up was telling that face to face to JJ's parents which was not necessary. It wasn't even necessary for them to show up at the evans house because it's no way you can tell a family you don't want their child to date your child because they live in the projects.

Also how often does someone who is from a rich family date someone in the projects? lol

So Clarissa's father didn't forget where he came from he just wanted his daughter to be in a safe environment.
