One thing that everyone who has been around here for a while knows is that I have beaten into the ground the topic of the third-season episode "Samantha's Protest". I have read replies by everyone and their brother about the degree to which I have exhausted that topic and that it is time to move on. The fact that it has been quite a while since I have written anything about it is because I got tired of being lectured about how redundant I was being. During the time that I was harping on this subject, I would compare the situation of Katie's giddiness over the handsome boy from the protest to other situations on other shows. These situations included situations on the "Honeymooners", "The Brady Bunch" and "Silver Spoons" in which various characters got their bubble burst. I also compared it to an episode of "Friends". In this case, I compared a situation in which Monica and Phoebe painted their nails on that show to the circumstances in which Katie from "Gimme a Break!" painted her nails in the episode in question. In any event, in the recent past, I watched an episode of "Friends" on Netflix that featured a situation that was so similar to the situation of "Samantha's Protest" that it is not even funny! Those of you who watch "Friends" and know the characters will understand what I am about to write about. Those of you who are not familiar with the show can either ask a friend who is, post a reply asking me about it or simply improvise in your mind. It all started when Rachael got a new job at Bloomingdale's. Her job involved taking rich people around the store helping them to decide what to buy. At first she thought that she would not like the job. Very similar to Katie starting out having no interest in the protest or the cause that Samantha was trying to serve. However, when I handsome guy named Joshua become one of her costumers, she all of a sudden acted married to her work! Very much like Katie acting willing to die for the cause once she learned that the handsome boy that she liked was part of the protest. The last of the big time phonies! Because of how much I have already rambled on about this topic, I will end this post momentarily. I would like to see what type of reaction the amount that I have already gets before I continue to elaborate on how similar I find the two episodes. See you around!
