I am totally enjoying season four on youtube. I like Meredith MacRae and the shows that she is in are great!
I really wish CBS would either put season four out on dvd or allow Shout! Factory to do so. Due to "music rights" I guess we'll never see any more seasons of this show on DVD and that's a shame because it's a great example of family life in the 1960s. |

Regarding Meredith MacRae: It's of interest to me who would have replaced Gunilla Hutton on Petticoat Junction had Meredith been able to continue on M3S.
Tim Considine's decision to leave the M3S series had several consequences: - Barry Livingston moves into the regular starring cast - Don Grady and Stan Livingston each move up a spot to become the oldest and middle sons, respectively - Meredith MacRae and Sebastian Cabot (played her dad) never appear again - Doris Singleton (played her mom) loses her recurring role (returns much later to play Chip's mother-in-law) - Any former girlfriend of Mike Douglas no longer has a chance to return in her original role - Meredith's move to Petticoat Junction leads directly to Mike Minor (son of Don Fedderson) also eventually joining the PJ cast -- where he meets Linda Kaye Henning and marries her, in real life and their TV characters...! **** This I think is just a sampling of how Considine's decision had an impact. |

I've read that Gunilla actually went back to Paul Henning not too long after she quit to ask him for her job back but by then he had already cast Meredith. So if Meredith had remained on My Three Sons, I'm wondering if Gunilla wouldn't have been rehired for the role?

Excellent point -- I seem to recall that too about Gunilla Hutton, myself having once been a member of a Petticoat Junction message board and that being discussed.
Of course, some other actress could've been hired exactly as Meredith was -- so Ms. Hutton may still have been out of luck...! |
