Default In January the trading page will be filled with Carson show trading

The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson has been acquired by Antenna TV and it is being said that they have all episodes except the ones that he did not host (guest host episodes so no Joan Rivers hosting episodes) and the episodes where he took the show on vacation.

Depending on how Antenna TV airs the show will show if this is either a hit or miss for the station. If they credit crunch the show then I know several people will not watch.

I don't know that the trading page will be filled with it. I personally find it hard to believe they have nearly every episode since some of them are believed to be "wiped". I can't fathom why credit crunches are a dealbreaker for so many people. Is it really that important to know who operated the boom mic on a show 40 years ago?

Pretty sure they'll be airing only the ones that weren't wiped. Or they'll have to rely on home recordings. Some clips from very early episodes were seen in the anniversary specials which are definitely in circulation in the trading circles. (I have the 28th anniversary show from 1990)

They are starting with 1974, the first year nothing is missing, and the beginning of the Burbank era. Weeknights will be the hour long shows starting with 1980, and the weekends will be the 90 minute 1974-1980 shows.

They wouldn't say if they got or will be getting the shows with guest hosts, or running any shows before 1973 that exist.

Thanks for the correction with the Burbank thing.

Why they are not starting with the earliest existing, I don't know. Perhaps they are holding those back for the DVD releases.

Your welcome. I know on the Johny Carson web site they was selling eps with original. Commercials. They said they had all of them from 1964. On they stop now they only have a 12 volume. So if you go by them all of the old eps are out there. I never dealt with them but I would guess there telling the truth. I heard years ago Johnny got a copy of each show and keep them in a old salt mine people use as a warehouse. To keep 16mm film and other stuff safe

Not sure why Carson Production was saying they had "all" of them since 1964 (2 years in for Johnny) ,when they don't. This is confirmed that they are missing the bulk of the pre-1973. Nothing has been recovered or located in several years.

Hi willi don't know but it off there site now as they combined all the EPs of the tonight shows w/o/c in to a one 12 set volume. And yes there was some pretty 1973 in there too as for that site you posted I unsure about it as it said he moved in may 1972 I have a tape four month earlier back in Feb and he was already in Burbank at that time. I found a few of the shows with oringal commercials. From 1964 1965 and 1969. 1970 and1971. From a guy who was on ioffer. And some that did not have the commercials so that proves there some out there somewhere. They problem came from the people on the show who asked for the copy of the show or a TV stations who throw out. There 16mm copy of the show when they was done with it . that how a lot of the old TV shows with oringal commercials are around now .
