Default Beau and Vinny?

I am new to this show. I saw it years ago on different channels in reruns.
I have been watching the Thursday Summer Marathons on Metv. They have a different show each night. Thursay is Welcome back Mr.Kotter. The other day they had episodes with Beau on no Vinny. Did Beau replace Vinny?
Where was John? Also Horshack wasn't in one episode. Where was he?

You are watching the 4th season. I have trouble watching that season because Gabe Kaplan and John Travolta were hardly on. Yea Beau technically replaced Vinnie. John was on a few episodes during that season but he was billed as a special guest star. Keep watching for when season 1 starts. Those episodes are really good.

The only ep. I liked from the last season the eps with Beau in them was the one where Juan and Mr. Woodman's niece were dating! It was so cute and romantic! I'm a Juan Epstein girl! Cher's sister played Mr.Woodman's niece!

Beau was pretty much a fill in for Vinnie because Travolta's star went supernova after the release of Saturday Night Fever in 1977. Shortly thereafter he did Grease and was a mega-star very much in demand. The show obviously had to take a back seat to many of his movie projects. This is why in the fourth season, when he DID appear, he was referred to as a "special guest star". I was in middle school during this period and I can assure you, there was probably no actor on the planet hotter than Travolta. Saturday Night Fever was a social phenomenon; everyone was dressing like him and trying to wear their hair like him. He was the ideal male role model.

But Travolta has remained grounded and humbled through the years. He always lands all credit to Kotter for allowing him to make that jump to the big screen and most people would agree with him. Without the attention Kotter gave him, he never could have made that leap to a major niche film like Fever so quickly. Fever was intended to be a trendy film about the times and Travolta was the star trending the highest off Kotter. The rest as they say is history.

I did not remember the Beau character AT ALL. Obviously I had stopped watching in primetime prior to his season -- maybe a wise decision on my part, back then!

Sometimes a "fish-out-of-water" type of character works, but in this case I don't think having this guy in Brooklyn was a good move...

I hated his accent and he was kind of goofy

Beau was cool, they just didn't handle his character right.

Oh he was not. Beau was fine and I personally liked his character. There was nothing wrong with it

Beau probably should have been brought in as a special friend of the Sweathogs, not necessarily a member.
