Default Antenna TV Partridge Family 45th anniversary marathon

Finally, a good reason for me to steal Antenna TV!

Next Saturday at 5 pm Antenna TV will present a special 45 episode marathon to honor "The Partridge Family"'s 45th anniversary and at the same time pay tribute to the late Suzanne Crough. It begins with the premiere episode "What? And Get Out Of Show Business?" and goes right through all day Sunday covering all 4 seasons.

Now I just have to find a nice illegal way to watch it either online or with a good antenna.

Those idiots at Antenna TV are crunching credits on this marathon. Mill Creek is releasing the complete series on DVD on September 1. You might as well buy that. It's cheap, and unedited with full closing credits. Luckily I have the entire series from the earlier Sony releases so I have no need to watch these butchered versions on Antenna TV.

I watched some of it!!! I'm not as big a Partridge Family fan as I was 45 years ago when it started! ( I can't believe it was that long ago, so I put an eye on it more for nostalgic reasons than anything else)! It lost a lot of it's appeal to me over the years! I crushed on Keith when I was like 8. But looking back now, David Cassidy doesn't really rock my boat too much! And I'm a Brady Bunch fan more!

But like if I'm around on a Saturday, METV plays that Cowboy crap all day, so METV is not an option! So if ID TV doesn't have anything new and/or interesting on at that time I'll watch the Partridge family and chuckle over it. But it's not like "MUST SEE " TV!!!

I would have to say I've been watching primarily to see Susan Dey, and some of the guests like Farrah Fawcett and Elaine Giftos. I much prefer how Shirley Jones looked AFTER the series ended, when she grew out that Tweety-bird pixie cut she had. Incredible difference -- she was so hot with longer hair!

As far as memorable episodes, I will never forget the skunk-odor one, with its tomato juice remedy. Or when Danny actually snipped Keith's hair while he was sleeping. Poster Alan Brady's Hair has mentioned some very memorable ones as well.

I liked the Partridge Family. I wouldn't go so far as to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE it either, but it is an entertaining show. And I always thought Shirey Jones was gorgeous.
Leave it to Antenna to do something nice like this. They truly are a SUPERB oldies channel.

However, if I were a hard core fan, I'd probably want a box set. But for those on a budget, Antenna does me fine- and also I can borrow TPF from the library (w/o commercials.)

I noticed at 12 EST this led to a direct Brady (METV) vs Partridge (ANTENNA) confrontation. I wonder who got more viewers.

With me it is something of the opposite. I used to watch The Partridge Family back in the 70s when it was a new series on TV , but never religiously, and I would miss watching the show on certain weeks not thinking much of it. I thought some episodes were better than others just like with all other TV series I watched.

When it went off the air it just seemed that it was something that happened to a few sitcoms like the Brady Bunch.
I essentially did not hear much about the cast for the following decades. I did hear about Danny Bonaduces's troubles with the law here and then. I recall once hearing a short piece on a music radio station that Suzanne Crough was now grown and a mother of two kids. I think this was in the late 80s. Then decades after I had been to college, had been in the military, had gone back to school twice and he!d numerous jobs and had gone past my 40s I discovered YouTube and the internet and heard about Suzanne Crough's death in early 2015 and then I saw that sad interview with David Cassidy with Pierce Morgan and I just realized that David Cassidy was 65 years old (in 2015) and I could not help but look at a lot of The Partridge Family episodes on YouTube and catch up on the episodes I never saw and I realized how much it was a part of my teen years and how happy it made me to watch the Partridge Family ...

I like The Partridge Family. It was something fresh and new in the 70s . Not to mention the great cast! But sadly I missed the marathon so that sucks
