Default Richard Masur

I like the 1st season episodes with Richard Masur, I think he and Bonnie F. were a good pair and looked good together. But after season 1, Richard was gone. Does anyone know why he left the show? Did they kick him off because he wanted more money? Or was it something else?

I don't know why (I'm assuming they just wanted Ann to be single for a while), but jeez he looks old for 26! lol...I would have guessed he was in his mid-30s! He's one of those people who just look older than they really are when they're younger.

He did look older than 26! I guess they figured that would work with Ann who looked younger than she was! Yeah I think the story line would have gotten too old after a while with David, he would put a damper on Ann's other admirers and dating life!

There's a long interview with Masur in the current Shock Cinema magazine.
www.shockcinemamagazine.com Five bucks in stores and six by mail.
Only good magazine I know that is anywhere near that cheap. (Well, really, I don't know of any other good magazines that are still worth buying.) It comes out at least twice a year and always has four or five interviews with retro stars, plus book and film reviews. Sounds like I'm doing a commercial, but it's the only magazine I still buy. And, in spite of the title, it's not a magazine about gore or slasher movies.

Masur gives a long answer about leaving, but basically says there was no where else to go with the character and he wanted out.

I thought David and Ann made a better pair than her and Sam. David was too whiny and clingy.

Am I supposed to assume Ann and David have gone past the "toe curling" stage?

I thought they should have ended up together at the end of the series.

A couple of 70/80s sitcoms ended with the main characters in questionable relationships.

Yeah there was "toe curling"! Ann finally let him "curl her toes" after she caught him in bed with that other woman from the building! Remember? That ep should be coming up. LOL David was "Thirsty" LOL and Ann wasn't putting out and the neighbor was apparently" thirsty "too. Ann and Schneider went into David's apt. because Ann was worried , she thought David was sick, because his car was at the building and he wasn't answering his phone . So she ended up catching him in bed with another woman!

That ep always bothered me because was uncharacteristic of David, It came out of nowhere, and really made no sense.

WHAT!!!!! ?????? It made a lot of sense ! it was 1975-76 or whatever ! Before HIV ! A guy in his mid 20's who isn't getting anything from the woman he is dating ( and loves) ! Yes, David really did love Ann I think? Anyway, he was young, it was back in the day, and a pretty lady was offering!!!! How does that not make sense ?????? I think any guy in his position back than would have "jumped on it" LOL No pun intended !!

That's where my question came from. He's listed at 21 episodes, which is only about 2 weeks in Antenna time. They obviously weren't in a committed, exclusive relationship, as evidenced by her and the pilot in episode two. So it was either just a friendship, with him wanting more, a friends with benefits deal, or an open relationship. Tough for me to get a read on it.

Richard Masur also played the "********" bag boy on an episode of AITF. He also played a child pornographer in a TV movie. I could never to take him after that.

If I remember, the two of them where in a car accident in the pilot episode, they were never really lovers.
