Mon (7/27) 11 EST, AntennaTV is running the rarely seen Schneider pilot, featuring the esteemed Mr. Feldman.

This will be neat to see
But I can't believe they tried a Schneider pilot in season 9. His schtick is already old and stale by this point, and they wanted to spin off his own show? lol...it seems if they would have spun anyone off, it would have been Barbara and Mark, starring on "The Royers", lol.

The ep before that when Ann goes to England will probably be worse for me. I bet I'll cry! I think they should have given Schneider's spinoff a shot. Yeah his shtick was old, but being in a new setting with new co stars might have made him different ! Down in Florida with circus or carnival people sounds kind of fun for a sitcom! The Royers would have been cool too. I posted about that before. That they could get some cool new co stars as their friends and neighbors. And Max kind of as a third wheel ex brother in law/roommate who gets on Barbara's nerves! But she really loves him because he is like family and she would basically be raising Annie!

For others #204 "Bringing In The Clowns" 4/4/84 was also a pilot featuring two of Marks' one episode seen "wacky" friends..... Valerie was offered a Royer Spin off and though Boyd Gaines was not interested, an idea was talked of briefly pairing Valerie with Michael Lembeck, hence episode #207 "The Nearness Of You" 5/4/84. Not that the characters of "Barbara" & "Max" would have been intimate if the series went, but they would have written "Mark" out and it would have followed abondoned "Max" raising baby "Annie" with "Baby starved Barbara" in a platonic way and working at the travel agency. Valerie nixed all ideas as she had already done several TV movies, and wanted/needed to concentrate on her marriage. Nine years was enough for her. BTW....for those who wanted Valerie credited as Valerie Van Halen, take note in her entire career she never was billed as anything by choice as Valerie Bertinelli to this day. If you want some real rare Corey Feldman, seek out the disaster syndicated early 80's "Madame's Place" featuring the puppet Madame, created by Wayland Flowers. I have the two episodes that TV Land aired about 15 years ago. Lastly my posts are long because I get it all out in one factual post, I hardly visit, so if you want to bash, go ahead........ As the series comes to an end for its' first run on Antenna TV, so many arm chair critics...... Boyd Gaines as some may know became a multiple Tony winner and always loved the broadway stage, Valerie & Gaines had no real chemistry because she was by then in love with Eddie and Gaines never has spoken of his sexuality, but the chemistry was forced (pick your choice as to why of two reasons) and as for the character of "Alex" played by I'm sure a young very confused with his sexuality actor Glenn Scarpelli, chose to come out openly, which I never read one post regarding that, just how awful and fem he was in the series......Glenn today is a very well educated openly gay male with yes his voice deeper. As I wish some of these posts were, instead of a post I read lusting after a 13 year old guest actress, that not one poster or moderator addressed. It's still up but have no intention of pointing it out.

-I always thought the pilot for Mark's friends involved Jerry Houser, Eloise, and the other guy, so I was wrong about that. - I did figure , though, at that point in time Valerie wasn't going anywhere near Barbara, no matter how much was offered. But the part about Barbara and Max is really interesting. Especially the dumping Mark part. |

I did know that the actor that played Alex came out as being gay when he got older, I just didn't feel it was relevant to mention and post here because it had nothing to do with the show! And I have no idea what female that was 13 who guest starred that the guys were lusting over that you are mentioning !! Who do you mean? an idea was talked of briefly pairing Valerie with Michael Lembeck, hence episode #207 "The Nearness Of You" 5/4/84. Seems odd CBS would pitch a Schneider spinoff when season 9 of the parent show was AWFUL

Let's hear it for the Feldster. One half of the Corey and Corey duel. Despite his weird Michael Jackson phase, I've always liked him, well at least in his early stuff.
