Been watching Kojak. I was a little kid (7-10 years old) when it was on, so watching the show is like seeing it for the first time.
Telly Savalas was the MAN as Kojak. Just the coolest old bald guy to ever walk the Planet. Which is the point of my question.... Telly has been bald since he was young. Basically he had "male pattern" baldness (think Mel Cooley/Richard Deacon), so he shaved the rest of his hair off to get his trademark look. However, his brother, George, also on Kojak had a full head of shaggy hair. Telly and George had the same father, and the gene for baldness comes from the male, so George should have been bald too. If George's hair was a toupee, worse one ever. So why was Telly bald and George wasn't? |

There were 4 Savalas brothers, just because one allegedly had male-pattern baldness is no sign the others did.

I had a Greek uncle with a head of full, thick hair. It was that way all the way to his death, in his 70s. One of his sons has lost a lot of hair, and is close to bald now. The other son has hair, though not as thick as the dad's was.
So there's another example of Greek brothers' varying "coverage" -- and neither being like the dad's...! |

George (died in 1985) reminds me of an elderly aunt I had -- both with dark, curly hair! Likely he was doing some dyeing too -- at least touch-ups. |
