Looking for the 1982 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade from NBC, preferably with commercials. Hopefully someone out there has it since VHS was so commonplace at that point that it should be no problem to circulate. Have lots to trade in return from 1978 to the present day. My email is in my profile.

Actually if we cast our minds back to 1982, we realize that a VHS recorder was NOT a common household item, in fact if anything was it was beta tapes back in the early days of home video recording, before VHS came about. But 1982 was still much too early even for beta to have been a commonplace item in people's homes. I remember it was 1985 when I bought my first beta recorder.
But as for the question of the 1982 Thanksgiving parade, if this was the year that William Conrad hosted the parade, then I DO indeed have an audio recording. Back then you taped on a cassette recorder the sound from TV (in my case I did use a patch cord, some back then used a mic to the TV speaker) if you wanted to have a recording of a TV show for your very own. To be precise, I have Bill Conrad's close to the parade coverage when he calls himself William "Bubbles" Conrad and recites a beautiful Thanksgiving Prayer, I think it's a Robert Lewis Stevenson prayer and wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. This is all I have of the Thanksgiving parade show, just the great close Bill Conrad does with the prayer and jovial mood he was in. I was and still am a big fan of Bill Conrad starting when I heard him as Matt Dillon on the radio version of Gunsmoke and of course while as a kid I watched every week, Cannon, next to Mannix it was my favorite private eye show.
