Default The scene with Alex sitting on Schneider's Lap has to be the worst scene

in TV SITCOM HISTORY

ALex playing the role of a little girl sitting on his lap while singing which was made me want to PUKE LOL

In the episode tonight.....Sonny Boy

That was very disturbing, I have to agree! This "Sonny boy" routine was before my time. really old! Was Sonny boy supposed to be a girl and Father wished he was a son? What was up with the wig? I am going to google it. But this ep. was really weird! And also where was Barbara? I think this was the only time Barbara was never on? Am I right?

yes I noticed she was missing in that episode. She missed a total of 4 episodes during the series. One during season 8 and 9 and two episodes from the first 2 or 3 seasons

LOL!! Ann could have worn the wig and sat on Schneider's lap and been a better " Sonny Boy"!!! It really would have been less weird IMO!!!!

Yeah! Mark was playing the piano ( that they just rolled in to Ann's apartment like it was nothing) and encouraged Alex to wear the wig and sit on Schneider's lap and be "Sonny boy"! Very weird ep!!!

The routine was also done on The Bob Newhart show with "The Peeper" singing the song, with Bob sitting on his knee. Emily was horrified by the spectacle

I didn't get to see the One Day At A Time episode, but Amen had an episode where Ernie was dressed like a little kid with a wig on and he was sitting on Rolly's lap while Rolly sang "Sonny Boy" to him. I think they were doing a talent show or something. It was definitely a strange and disturbing sight.

sonny boy was a famous bit from al jolson in the 1930s the wig was supposed to make alex/glen look like billy lee the young boy who sat on jolson;s lap I still think the whole bit was weird no matter what performers do it
